One of the best bands ever to grace the stage at Glastonbury, everyone will remember their final song - The Dark is Rising as long as they live, but this is the album that got me switched on.
Sorry to all the more informed music-lovers. I do bow to your knowledge, and apologise for assuming something which was so wrong. And thank you for your correction. I do hope I can get to see them live someday, although of course I recognise I don't deserve to. I mean it seriously guys, no irony.
The rapture is "today" and honestly, I couldn't think of a better song to play while the world ends. I just want to make sure his hands are in mine and my lips on his while the world diminishes.
I remember the first time I heard this album, I cried throughout the first 4 or 5 tracks, that had never happened to me before, not with any album but I knew back then this album was special and I still think so now.
I find it hard to believe I don't see the word "Theremin" anywhere in this thread. This is one of my all-time favorite tracks that uses this beautifully haunting instrument. It kicks in at 1 minute 50. Did you guys not notice it or what?
Can't believe not 1 single 1 of the 178 people responding to this video has even mentioned the word Theremin! This song is one of my very favorites which uses this instrument - it just fits it so beautifully.
This makes it a piece of history and science as well as music. I've just got to stop expecting so much of the Internet community, lol!

This was the closing music to a little known BBC Afternoon Play titled 'Billy Two-Sheds'..the most poignantly crafted piece of television ever from the sadly departed Alan Plater. This and the closing music had me in floods of tears. Perfect.
This song takes me to so many places,. It takes me back in time to my childhood when I was happy and carefree and didnt suffer from daily anxiety . When I didnt even care what money was or before I had two jobs and went to college full time it makes all my daily worries dissapear this song takes me back before it all, I cry when I hear this song because It makes me want to be a child again sitting in the car with my family ready for a whole new destination. I love this beautiful song.
@MsRayofsun It takes you along a path, one that is filled with neutral wonders and amusements. Just like being a child. Tis incredible what music will do to you.
@MsRayofsun your comment nearly made me cry as I listened to this. Its true, it takes you back to something that isn't there anymore in adult life, a safe feeling. Something that only kids can feel and somehow this band make me feel like that for a few moments.
@MJPICKify this is the first time i have been back to this video in a long time.I just want to say thankyou because when i wrote that comment i had just gone away to college for the first time and had never felt so alone. All my childhood I couldnt wait to grow up but now i just want to go back in time to the beautiful simplicity of young life and this song is one of my all time favorite songs so thankyou so much for your comment it touched me.
This was the first video to favorite when I subscribed to youtube a year ago today. I had just gotten laid off from my long-held job that I loved more than life and used my severance to buy a computer, which arrived on Aug. 19, 2009.
I don't know why this was my first song to favor or what I was thinking at the time when I favored it. The good news is that life does get better after we start to see the light and climb out of our little holes. Peace, love and Namaste ....
It's the only album, where I have cried throughout the first 4 tracks. That hadn't happened to me with any album before, or even since. It's beautiful.
Can anybody recommend me the best 3-4albums of mercury rev? I just started listening to this band and found a couple songs in deserter's songs (1998) were awesome. Perhaps I am going to buy it. Any other recommendation?
