  • My school is doing this play and I get to be Sister James. YAY.

  • Sorry. The movie is so much better.

  • @Khantikone123 Did you see the broadway production? It was amazing what they did on stage, I work in theater and took my family and to this day they still talk about this production. I liked the movie but it just did not have the same sitting on the edge of your seat quality, it was good but the play well, the play was so good they made it into a movie and that pretty much sums it up.

  • @Khantikone123 some people always think movies are better. no biggee

  • The Father Flynn in the Broadway production is HOT!!!! No wonder the boy tried to protect him (well this is I concluded the story to myself, so don't attack me with your opinions saying Father Flynn is innocent). LOL

  • I read the script for Doubt in school and really like to find the full recording of this show with this cast. Can anyone help me find where I can buy a copy? I know it's years old but I believe this cast for Doubt was best.

  • Thanks for posting this clip. It brought back memories of seeing the original onstage.

Folks, you have to see this play onstage. It will thrill and provoke and astound you.

  • what an amazing clip!

[certain people (ie: sameerkumar90 etc.) no NOTHING about acting]

  • that was most defanitly not broadway

  • yuck acting. Thank GOODNESS for Hoffman and Streep.

  • The only reason the acting comes off as cheesy and hammy is because we're watching it up close, on video. Film acting is typically supposed to be taken several notches down from the acting of live theater. Also, I thought Streep completely hammed it up in the film, and Hoffman was far too creepy as Flynn. Hoffman's performance had "pedophile" written all over it.

  • i saw this cast and thought they were wonderful.

  • ....

  • @sameerkumar90 hey the acting here is fine

  • Thats crazy the guy from Sleepers and other popular Hollywood fims is in this kind of acting. Not that there is anything wrong just surprising. He must need some money..

  • hey, it's an honor to be an actor on broadway! and they are paid very well!

  • I find this a little amusing that they all have brooklyn accents.

  • This was supposed to take place in a Bronx neighborhood, where Joh Patrick Shanley was born, raised and schooled.

  • though i don't really know what eileen's performance was like in its entirety, i wonder why she made the choice to stay so calm in one of the play's most climactic moments. the stakes looked so low. no judgement, just curiosity.

  • IRAK.. is spelled Iraq

  • EILEEN ATKINS!!! SO COOL!!

  • i wish this had cherry jones in it she wS SOOO GOOD

  • It's astounding how different her performance is from Cherry Jones' performance.

  • I agree. Unfair to judge Eileen from such a brief clip but I saw Cherry Jones and it was jaw dropping. I'm very afraid of the film version with Meryl Streep.

  • yeah, Meryl Streep, what an amateur. all fourteen of those oscar nominations were mistakes i guess?

i, for one, loved cherry jones but i'm thrilled streep is playing the part in the film.

  • Meryl was brilliant in "A Prairie Home Companion" and arguably the best part of "Mamma Mia!" I can understand the dislike toward "Mamma Mia!" and seeing it as a general dislike, but to think that her performance in "A Prairie Home Companion" is generally regarded as bad or "Hmmm" is wrong. Whatever your opinion, nobody can deny that Meryl is relevant and has remained so since the 70s.

While I agree that Cherry Jones would have likely been great in the film, even she seems happy with Meryl

  • First of all, thank you for responding in a rational fashion. Sometime these internet exchanges can become a bit shrill. I actually agree to disagree. I think it is boiling down to that I am not a fan of her 'later' work. I guess she is relevant to those who enjoy her. I think we will both agree that as an interviewee, person, humanitarian she is first rate. I am not knocking her from a place of venom but sheerly from my personal response to her most recent work.
