  • they both are beautiful ladies. Why don't they ask camera man/woman to pay. then Doris could pay him/her back later. I looked at it with a sense of humor. who does not forget things sometimes? especially they must have so many purses to match with their clothes. bless Days' heart for animals.

  • Bossy???!!!!! YA THINK! Doris is way out of bounds. She even stopped Angie from ordering what she wanted to drink. And by the way, you can tell Angie could not give a shit about her "cause." This is sooooooo contrived.

  • Eryqah: You sound totally convinced and you seem to have all the answers us mortals have been searching for for eons. It's comforting to know there is someone out there that really knows why we're all here. I am sure "God" has sent you to enlighten us and take away all our uncertainties. I bet you just can't wait to join him. Makes one wonder why you're not there already since it's so much better than being here.

  • it's nice to care about animals to a limit, but animals are just animals. That's it. Care about the millions of people are suffering and starving more. Put your money into that. This is very sad work, not.

  • @mismestera Why do you think that humans are worth more than other animals? Because they can't speak English or in other human languages, or what? That's just ignorant BS. You have no idea what other animals have to put up with in this world because of us humans. Yes, I said other animals, because humans are also animals. Think about that.

  • @Eryqah First and foremost humans are not animals. God created man and then woman and he gave them dominian over animals. Yes humans are totally and completely above animals. There is no argument there. Period. We are not descendants of apes. We are God's own creation. Of course we shouldn't be abusive toward cats and dogs. We should respect God's creation. So in response to your comment I will never ever lower humans to consider them animals as well. Period.

  • First and foremost humans are animal, by the pure logic that we are same in biological make up, humans evolved biologically differently. God is an animal, made by the animal that made him/her/it. And as far as you dictating intelligence that make human better than animal, you would not think this if you were casted from the larva of a Snell. Intelligence is relative to that species biological make up.

  • @dogboy4u humans are not animals. A lot of the science junk we learned in school is simply not true. You just buy into a lie. So dog boy. You can woof, woof all the day long!

  • She is a dear person with a purpose. She seems a bit bossy but her cause with the animals is worth it. I am sure Angie Dickinson is savy and just going along for this situation. Two classy ladies that I have enjoyed watching in movies and tv for years and years. We should all look this good at 60, 70 and 80 years of age

  • Sheriff.....?? Elmer?... Angies not indifferent.... just the arranged dialogue/ script needed work.. A very important subject and a disgrace for this country.. Happy birthday Doris...

Yes, free spay and neutering is key or.... go house to house and require each pet owner to be licensed, prove spay/neutering, have it done or give up fluffy... That would solve this problem of irresponsible pet ownership...

  • LOL!! That's a classic Doris Day face at teh end! I kept thinking " Din and Dash" not that Doris would ever do that.

  • Ya know I find it kinda odd that the waiter as old as he is has no idea who Doris Day is...OMFG!! Seriously? If Doris Day came into my restaurant, I'd say "anything you want, it's on the house!" I'd feel honored she'd come to my restaurant!!

  • What a cute,odd little clip.

  • Comment removed

  • This is so cute. As I was watching this i was thinking, this is what life is all about = Caring.

This is what will keep you young: doing something that matters-- helping in some way to help ease suffering.

  • Miss Day is still beautifull. I've been her fan since I was 12 years old in San Francisco in the early '50s.

  • You can so tell that angie doesn't give a hoot about it.

  • Yeh, and im Cary Grant! Lol what happens next????

  • What if the stray dog doesn't wanna get it? Do they have a say?

  • Angie, you better have that nice hot coffee!:)

  • getrealulot....how dare they ??? what do you do to make the world a better place ? I bet nothing at all. animals are a part of this world also.you moron !!!

  • Got to laugh at bored Angie Dickenson trying to sound sincere --

"Well count me in ... absolutely ... pick up strays and have 'em spayed straight away!!"

  • umm..okay, since they are talking about spaying and neutering, that doesn't really apply to the human species. However, maybe if more people paid attention to getting the over populating of animals under control, then we could channel that money to bigger and better causes, like homeless and starving children.

  • It's easy to say that about any issue. Everyone has different passions.

  • well it's the parents' jobs to control their children and what they do!

  • Doris Day is very nice and looks good here. Angie is a totally beautiful knock-out, and just as nice as Doris, too. A worthwhile cause.

  • ...the part when neither Doris or Angie can't pay the check?

  • Was this meant to be funny?

  • I love Doris Day. I would love to see celebrities with all of this money donate to great causes.

  • too bad all of these ultra rich hollywood types don't join forces with Doris and join her foundation, instead of parading around with these little tiny dogs like they are accessories.

  • I was thinking about that...

  • what happens!? what happens next!?!

    I didn't think I'd care, but i do!

  • I would love to have some of these shows, they should release them on DVD.

  • Doris could ask anyone to pay her bill...no matter if she didn't know any one there!! ahaha! I know I would!! lol

  • i'm a stray pet!!really, i'm a stray pet!!i love monterey,california...i feed myself,watch over my own health,i can read and speak...i am self educated....and i've had all of my shots!!

  • My advice: put this in your favorites. If you have a bad day, play this, skip to the 6 minute mark and play it. I laugh everytime I see it and I know it's a put-on. Enjoy.

  • Wow. Coming back to this clip and seeing all the negative comments really surprised me. That was just my point of view. I am sorry if I offended anybody. But come on people! "Oooh those are pretty." Phony bologna!!!!

  • The message is lost amidst all the hoakiness. However, Doris remains the best of the best.

  • She still supported Bush the hunter in 2000 and 2004 though.

  • It was a joke Davey....the thing with neither of them bringing money...do you really think a sheriff was called...however weak it may be, it was meant for a little chuckle!

  • Davey7358 has mommy issues I think..hates all women...poor soul!

  • Was this from "Doris Day's Best Friends" ?

  • If they were having lunch in a restaurant in Korea instead of Carmel, CA, then perhaps each of them would have ordered a dog and cat salad instead of a seafood salad. (Squids, after all, are just as cuddly and intelligent as either dogs or cats.)

  • This is absolutely hilarious. I cried, too, but only in the beginning serious part. "Yeah, and I'm Cary Grant." Doris and Angie are probably the two classiest women on this planet. Can you imagine asking them to pay a check? How stupid. I'd pay THEM each $100 for a hug and a kiss. (and that wouldn't be enough !! )

  • Doris is a lovely lady. Thanks for posting.

  • brilliant

  • Doris definately got a face lift. i don't know when but she definately did!! she looks gorgeous but theres no way she didn't. i don't mind, but i can notice it. i love doris day and always have!!

  • Yeah..the face looks a little tight. Thank you 80's facelifts....

  • Davey what the hell is your problem??! YOU are the annoying one to get so bent out of shape over two older ladies having lunch together, and talking about caring for needy animals!!!! My Lord, get a grip and find a life!!

  • Perfectly said!!!!

  • Thanks Shrina. I can't understand the amount of hostility and hatred some people have just for no reason at all.

  • Boy have you ever got a chip on your shoulder! How anyone can slag off someone like DD, when she has done SO much to entertain people, care for unwanted animals and live right.

Maybe a leaf out of her book might make YOU into a nicer person.

  • Beautifully said!!!!

  • she looks amazing

  • Doris went on record with her birthdate in her official autobiography and she states April 3, 1924 so actually she just turned 84. I don`t know about the so called 1984 facelift. I saw her on Good Morning America in May 1983 several days in a row being interviewed by David Hartman. She looked beautiful and youthful so I don`t see where she could have had a lift in 1984 as some are claiming all of a sudden.

  • who said she had a face lift how does anyone know that never heared her tell that !

  • Doris had a facelift in 1984 and you can see the results-gorgeous! She just celebrated her 86th birthday and was interviewed on Magic 63 radio in Monterey, CA. She sounded just the same upbeat and wonderful!

  • The ending of this video is really neat - a fun touch to show that celebrities aren't given any special treatment at this high class restaurant. I'd love to know how many laughs they got when this was part of Doris' television show. The information about animal care and being a responsible owner is good for everyone to hear. Once a year there's a free clinic here at the Humane Society which is a Godsend for so many pet owners who can't afford shots, medicine, etc.

  • I would image if Angie really wanted to order iced tea she would have said - well, I'm in the mood for iced tea so I'll have that. There's no big deal here. Doris and Angie are both gorgeous women - even in their 80's they will both outshine us .

    -Paula

  • Doris can order my drinks anytime (and she can order me around too). I love you Doris!!!!

  • Doris about 10-years older than Angie. Doris just celebrated her 84th birthday and usually is a phone-in guest (for her B-day) on the Jazz station in Monterey, Ca near her Carmel Valley ranch.

  • Damn, Doris! Let a woman order an iced tea! She's such a top.

  • although i'm a 40 year old who grew up with punk music and loves rock music, i believe doris had the best female voice of the 20th century, truly amazing!

  • That was pretty funny., Doris looked great for being in her mid 60's. I agree that her skin looks far too good to just have been the result of healthy nutrition and exercise. But that's her deal. The movies she made where she played a wife and mother are my very favorites. May God be with her always.

  • Doris was just 61 when she did this. She wasn`t in her mid-sixties.

  • She's not dead!

  • Ok....I don't mean to be knit-picky, but why couldn't Angie have the drink of her choice. I go out to lunch or dinner with friends all the time, and everyone orders what ever beverage they want. I wish one of my friends WOULD tell me what drink WE should order. I would go off! lol, Still love my girl Doris Day though!

  • Lovely ladies, both of them. But every time I watch this, I keep thinking: "Darn it! Angie really wanted iced tea, not coffee!!!" :) Just kidding, of course; the banter is sweet, and all for a good cause!

  • Doris is beautiful !

  • doris day and roddey mcdowell two of the nicest people to have graced hollywood

  • love her, doris is the best!

  • Oh that was so funny... I LOVE DORIS she´s so lovely

  • ANGIE D IS 76 AND DORIS D 83

  • If its true that you never put a dog down then I could use some advice, a brother in-law has a blind picanese that is over 13 years old and isn't ready to go..let me know..I think this is great!!!

  • VickieJolyne: Good thoughts for your brother-in-law and his pekingese!!! If you get in touch with Hearts United for Animals (huaDOTcom) they might be able to give you some good advice for both of them. In the meantime, just make sure he gets all the love and attention possible :)

  • That was a TOTAL publicty stunt.

  • Angie Dickinson is so attractive (Doris is, too!).

  • I want to see what doris looks like now, but I cant find Any videos?

Btw, she should never have retired when she did! but, thats female vanity for you!

She didn't want to grow old on film!!!

  • I was told just recently that Doris was seen at the Cypress Inn she co-owns in Carmel, California and that she is still beautiful and sunny....I was so glad to hear it !

  • Doris is busy working on behalf of the animals which has been her career now for over 25 years..She has always said that she would have done another film but animal work is so consuming and she also won`t leave the animals that she personally cares for..The most recent pic of her available to the public was taken a few years ago in Carmel for a book...She still looked great !

  • Angie Dickinson made her film debut in a Doris Day flim called "Lucky Me." She had a non-speaking role. That movie was being made on the lot next to Judy Garland's when she was at Warners filming "A Star Is Born."

  • angie looks like a cross between connie stevens and connie francis.

  • Yeah, she does a little.

  • Do we have another Joan Crawford here???? I just some out takes from her tv show. And the director was very mean to the childern. I never heard a word out of miss(virgin) day. Wonders if she loves her animals more than human childern???????

  • betcha both of these ladies are "frisky"...

  • Thanks so much for sharing this! It's wonderful to see these lovely ladies again!! Gosh, I've loved Doris Day for my whole life!! And Angie is so pretty and feminine!!

  • yeah, but that's all she is...

  • Doris is a great person, actress and singer with or without plastic surgery. She did good things and still does. I love her no matter how she looks and I'll never stop.

  • an excellent video and an excellent topic well done

  • Thanks for posting this. WUNDERBAR!!

  • does anyone know wot year this is please

  • The show aired in 1985...

  • Doris Day is one classy dame. She has just the perfect combination of a liberated and independent woman, while breaking hearts and letting gentleman chase after her. They just don't make women like that anymore.

  • Lovely! Doris makes me melt!

  • she aged really good.

  • Yes, thanks in part to plastic surgery. Too bad she never did anymore movies or television. (Here she looks younger than poor Angie Dickinson -- who was 7 years younger than Doris).

  • danny, I'm sure Doris has had things done, but she doesn't have that "frozen" look on her face; her face still looks very normal..so I think alot of her youth is her attitude and healthy habits.

  • I was just replying to the person who said she aged "really good". Doris was up front about having several surgeries, but that's probably 10 less than Joan Rivers, etc.. I'm sure she probably looks wonderful today in her early 80's. She sounds just the same...there's a recording of her on youtube when a radio station called her for her birthday and she sounds like she did 50 years ago. :)

  • Oh, I see. Do you have any idea when this recording was made?? I wish I knew. Because if it's recent, she looks FABULOUS!! I know she always was active and exercized regularly. Is she that old?? That's hard to believe!! I think she's closer to about 75. I'm gonna check that.

  • This was an episode on the 1985 "Doris Day's Best Friends" cable show about animals.

  • dannybex, ok, I just looked her up. She was born April 3, 1924!!! OMG! I guess I just have a hard time ever thinking of Doris as old!! I love her so! She is so lovely, sweet, pretty and I just love her movies!

  • This clip is from her "Doris Day's Best Friends" show in 1985. It's quite telling that she looks almost younger in 1985 than she did in 1965...or at least not 20 years older. :)

  • Doris is not old..I agree with her statement that "age is just a number" which she stated back in april 2007 on her radio birthdate tribute ! She sounded just as young and fresh as ever...She was seen recently in Carmel at the Inn she co-owns looking fit and trim and still beautiful !

  • I never heard Doris say anything about having any surgery done to make her look younger..She has talked about surgery she had years ago to have a tumor removed and her leg surgery when she was a child but that`s it..I have heard her say that she`s not against plastic surgery if one chooses to do so !

  • No need to get so defensive. She's 83, but as she says (and I agree) age is just a number. I'm sure she does look great today, and probably hasn't had any work done in 15-20 years. But just looking at pictures of her from the last 40 years or so, it's very clear she has had work done...but very good work, and that's nothing to be ashamed of.

  • Excuse me, but there's nothing "poor" about Angie! She's gorgeous and is a generous and talented lady.

  • DORIS DAY & ANGIE DICKINSON. GREAT!

  • Amazing to see the passion.

  • Thanks for posting this. Doris Day was a true star from her era and knew when to quit tinsletown and move onto bigger and better projects, namely the welfare of animals. She turned 83 just recently and still lives in the vacinity of that golf course in beautiful Carmel taking care of her four legged friends.

  • great doris we love you we always will
