They sound great. For some reason though when I see Bowser, I keep thinking of Freddy Mercury. I wonder if they would have ever done anything together?
That was awesome! This song was stuck in my head all day and I got curious to see if anyone besides the Jamies ever covered it. If not for Bowzer's bass, I would have sworn they were just lip-syncing to the original, it was that perfect a cover. Can someone name the other three members appearing here? I'd love to know more about that amazing tenor.
Never mind, I figured it out... Bowzer, Santini, Donny, and Johnny. I had to spend the last four hours watching a ton of videos to remember voices and faces I haven't seen in over 30 years. Every single member of the group had incredible talent; they were way more than "just" a comedy act or a cover band.
great harmony ! great music, I miss the 70s where these guys were on TV and all the other music .
I need a time machine. Oh no.. please don't tell me about (passing away) members ! I hear Lennie retired in year 2000, ten years ago ! ughhh.. time flies..
HELP ! I want to go back... (to the ISLAND of Rock and Roll !)
Thanks Faerydancer for posting this & other SNN videos! I discovered SNN back in 1969/1970 when I was a teenager. I loved their TV show in the late 70's. These guys ROCK!!!!
I wish their TV was back on as there's not much on TV anymore; too many "reality" shows that are so unreal it's not funny!
IF you love SNN as I do you can go to their official website and under LINKS at the bottom is a link to Sha Na Na Fan Pages by Cheryl and then on her site there is a link saying "HELP GET THE SHA NA NA VARIETY SHOW ON DVD!"
I have to admit I loved everything these guys ever did (Grease For Peace Forever!) bu I LOVE this version of Summertime. Faerydancer, you deserve a huge medal for posting these.
I have always enjoyed the original hit song, but I actually like the blend on this version much better! I could wish that they had recorded it in a studio without the audience reaction, but it is great to hear in any regard ! FANTASTIC!
I don't know, but I'd sure be happy if this show and shows like it were still on TV. At least I'd have something to watch and I would'nt be afraid to have my kids in the room with me while it was on. I think a lot of people miss just fun, light-hearted, family-friendly TV.
These guys were SO talented and they just don't get the kind of credit they deserve. They all know their videos are on here because they give you links to them on their websites (which is kinda cute). I hope they read these comments sometimes and know how much we all love them!!
I love that song, it is so catchy!! I really enjoy watching those clips. Sha Na Na was my favorite show as a teenager. I will be looking forward to more of those.
AMEN, jenbanter! If any of the TV "powers that be" saw these posts and how many people want to see these shows again (and they had half a brain) they'd be all over this! Or at least release them on DVD!! Anybody out there have any connections?
I love this one, proof positive that these guys could really sing. In a song like this, you cannot afford to be off pitch. They all sound wonderful on this.
Great oldie great show

The Jamies were the first I think. It's aways fun. So silly. It lets the teens be ridiculous, something teens need imo.

What I find interesting is that their hard rocker Danny always seems to be the fanciest dresser on the show.

Besides have such great voices they were funny. Loved their shows. I want them back

The part where they tell the teacher to zip their lips is the best. More teachers should be told the same. LOL.
