i have the nikon mount and it is much faster and quieter than yours. I would send it to Sigma under warranty to be checked.

It sounds like the ribbing on the barrel is rubbing on the blanket/sheet it's sitting on. Could that be what you're hearing?

Yes there's a pretty noticeable sound when the ring focuses from the closest distance to infinity. Like screw noise.

Try other copies of the lens from where you bought it, see if its normal.
