@angus6761 Tbh I think youre in the minority in thinking theyre past it. Plus Janick Gers has been in Iron Maiden for nigh on 20 years, about the same amount of time as Adrian Smith. Plus Janicks wrote some fantastic songs, he may not be the best guitarist, but hes one of the better songwriters.

He plays his own solos really well, but if he didn't write it he shouldn't play Adrian's in my opinion. Just like if Jannick played the solo in this song it would MAKE NO SENSE.

Man, Adrian's leads just floor me. The dude has the power! I love Satriani, I love me some Vai, some Van Halen, but if I was going to cop anybody's "feel" for a ripping lead, it would be Adrian's. Simple, but devastatingly effective, and executed with great feeling. Even when he improvises, as in this one.
