@daveycrockett64 If they did he could have told them where to go! He was self employed, you only come under HSE if you employ people. Apart from visiters to hie premises he was OK. Most of HSE is bollicks anyway! Take PAT testing for example, do they really think a paper label on a plug will stop you getting electrocuted? NO but they know if you have the label you won't be prosecuted for not having one. Nothing to do with H&S - it's an arse covering exercise!
I thank you for sharing this vido with us that shop is truly a national treasure I hope that it is still going but I fear that in theis modern world of ours the craftsmanship and care shown here can not find a place true and sad facts
I hope HSE don't seen this. They will be there with a hardhat, reflective vest and a clipboard.

At least the old ways are being stored on film. I hope someone keeps the old shop going.

Was only reading about this subject in a book on country crafts the other day and wondering if it was still practised.....
Thank you very much for this visual insight .

very special video, hate to lose such special people with such interestingly unusual skills.
but thats how that goes!!
he seems like a special craftsman for sure. can surely tell his health is not what it use to be!!
would love to have a place like that myself!!
self sustaining with the new wood growing right out the back door!
no lumber mill prices to worry over!!

Superb video... tinged with sadness, more living history and skill lost.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
