...restores your faith in the YT audience if one-third of them DO NOT like this...yes, LL is amazingly indifferent to the music, the perf. is entirely generic, there is no discernible interest in any articulation or stylization, he just beats out the notes, not the music, no "little bell" is heard at all...
The people who are disliking, they think this is one of his other interpretations, in which he modifies the music, I dont like those either. But this one, it is excellent, so, dont comment and dont dislike before you hear it. You wouldnt notice it is him playing if you simply covered your eyes.
@KhagarBalugrak Not even close to Horowitz. The kid is robotic 90% of the time, and sloppy mistakes a 10-year old is taught how to fix the other 10% of the time. Horowitz was never as hamfisted and emotionless.
@LilMusicful When I was 15 years younger and had 17 years of piano lessons behind me, I played this. Tried to start out on a promising professional career. Back then I would have accomodated you by posting a video to prove you wrong (no youtube back then). My dream at the time was to become a concert pianist. But when you have an untimely stroke at 22 and the dreams die, you can't. I still teach, just can't do much anymore myself. Sorry.
shut up you all!!! Comercial or not comercial, he is one of the most great pianists of our days and if you want to judge him, you should start playnig like him too!! ohh, one tiny little detail, YOU CAN'T!!!
@ThomasPetrik - speaking of mistakes... You start off your critique sounding like the love child of Paris Hilton and Pauley Shore (OMG!) and then proceed to squeeze in 6 grammatical errors. To demonstrate this much shitheadedness in roughly 20 words is simply remarkable. Well done, Thomas. Well done.
So surprisingly, Langlang played this piece softly and lovely! This is not the typical fast and crazy pianist as people expected. But you can still tell that's Langlang's style towards the end, Isn't it? I love his performance, always so exciting with full energy!!!
Forget it Mr Bang Bang.. I thought you were not tooo far away from Yundi Li... But now i guess Yundi Li plays it better than you even with his toes =)

An amazing pianist plays an incredible piece of music and all you can think to do is compare him to another incredible pianist? What's wrong with just appreciating the sheer level of skill it takes to play such a piece?
@mcollinsblog I must agree. Unless you can play anything better and put this man to shame, I would suggest that you keep your thoughts of comparison to yourselves and just enjoy the music.

the piano isnt the best tuned (but nothing compared to mine :'/ ) and i gotta say i really like the lisitsa version better. sounds more fluent, think because she really plays the high octave trillers as trillers and not like sleeping (uhh that was polemic, sorry lang lang)
Wow, I actually kind of enjoyed this interpretation and I didn't even want to kick a puppy in the face as a result of his facial expressions! However, I suspect someone instructed him to tone down the crazy face a bit... But unfortunately I listened to Kissin's version just before this... Compared to that, Lang Lang might as well have been playing a keytar with 2 baseball bats for hands...
I found his interpretation of this piece a bit too mechanical without much emotion for a Liszt piece. But he surely has his theatrical skills... i find his facial expressions really painful for some reason ._.
why everybody makes comparison between pianists? Each pianist plays his own interpretation of the pieces, it is logically that they will differ. That's the beauty of the music. Great performance on this extremely difficult piece.

@piano0b this man played LA CAMPANELLA. no matter if it is worse than Kissin, he is playing something that requires a lifetime dedication and lots of skill. Of course everyone has their own opinions on different pianists. The point of my comment is that this video not only has less than 1% of the "hotties shaking their ass" views, and it's also more disliked.
Lang Lang is good but for anybody wanting to see how this should really be played try Georges Cziffra who is the finest Liszt interpretator. Okay the videos are old but just listen to Cziffras magic.
Most people youtube "La Campanella" and see Yundi or Kissin videos on top result and immediately think their version is the best. There are others brilliant renditions such as those played by Alicia de Larrocha or Alice Sara Ott. Lang Lang's version sounded very witty and lively, a pity it was played on such a piano.
First of all - he's playing for a chinese audience. Those people don't even notice if a piano is out of tune or not (most of them).
Second: Lang Lang is clearly better then Yundi Li. Although Yundi is a more professional pianist who doesn't pull of a show all the time, he has a limited repertoire and only his Chopin is somewhat good. Lang Lang if playing seriously has a much wider range of skills.
You know, really, the only people that could critique them would be people who could be better than them, or play at their equal level... So all of you who argue, "LANG LANG IS BETTER" or 'YUNDI LI KICKS BANG BANG'S ASS ALWAYS" can go practice. Kthanks :)
