I have an idea, when you are heating it and the black part gets torn off when you try to separate it, take the hair dryer and heat the black part up (still attached to the screen and after you torn it apart) and peel off that black part and glue it back on to the LCD screen. would that work?

thanks for clarifying this point! do you think this goes for the nano 6g as well? or might it be possible because of the small size of the screen? of course i wanted to save money just buying the digitizer.... but i didn't know before that its so diffifult to separate the two.

@Cintrojan It does not look like you can separate the digitizer on the 6g nano either. I am sure you can buy the front assembly for around 40.00 on ebay.

Evidence shown to some pricks that an LCD cannot be removed from the digitizer therefore should stop selling the digitizer on it's own.So More money down the drain due to cons that don't take refunds. I rate TechLifeMobile and would like to thank them for getting the point out.

while you cant remove the lcd from the digitizer, you can still disassemble it. watch my water damage repair video where I show how to do this

So if I were to buy the LCD and digitizer separately and buy the 3M adhesive film stuff they sell on eBay wouldn't I be able to stick the LCD to the digitizer using the 3M film and get it to work properly? I'm asking this because I want to switch my iPhone to mirror blue and the blue digitizer+LCD costs well over $70 and that's simply too much. If i buy these separately though it will cost $30 Thanks

@mendoza1017 do not put the adhesive between the LCD and digitizer the best thing to do is to position the LCD on glass after wiping both perfectly clean and trying to keep them in a place without much dust and use super glue around the edges of the LCD careful not to get any under it and don't use too much as to where it sticks up and causes it to not fit together just go around carefully not moving the LCD and seal it completely

yes you can. Do not remove anything from phone. start with the small pieces of glass, and using just a nail flick them off its actually easy. you need to smash the larger pieces into very small fragments. like less than 5x5mm dont heat it, dont remove it. Then you preserve your hq screen without having to buy cheap chinese copies which will crap out quickly.

hey pm if you want to kno how to seperate them!....i found 2ways!..dont get me wrong it is still hard and you will mess up the first and second time!....but the glass will brake but the lcd comes out with no scratch!.....

@alexfeltham the resolution is just the same as the oem ones. I just fixed my ipod touch the other day, and honestly, i couldnt tell the diff between the retian display on the new screen and that of my iphone 4

and yeah you can separate it on the 4th gen, but it might not work out too well, get ur accessories from chinaphoneaccessories on ebay

@Left2Dollars You can use a blowtorch if you want. Either way separating the LCD front the Glass is not going to help you. Buy the right part the first time and save yourself the trouble. You need the full front assembly with the digitizer and LCD.

thanks so much for this video! I have been trying to crack this mystery since so long... I have a broken digitizer but the LCD is fne. Everywhere I see videos of people replacing "glass" which inludes the digitizer and the LCD, but nowhere did anybody tell that these two cannot be separated. You saved me atleast $20.

All the screens sold are made of glass + LCD

there is a liquid between the lecd and glass, to isolate from dirty elements. the result is you will never have something between glass and lcd
