  • why r all the vicars british? lol

  • Fuck those kids are useless what f'd up family oh gosh what am i saying my families just like that!

  • Can anyone tell me did Jason Donovan take part in this movie??! When I see her "husband",I always think about him...By the way australian men are pretty good, handsome! I adore this movie and Toni Colette is my favourite actress, I also adore ABBA's music! Great!!!

  • i loved te way e likes her in te end

  • Don't you love it when you're just about to have sex with your husband and Ave Maria starts playing

  • I love him, if he'll love me ? ;)

  • that mcdonalds next to the motel was the most amazing mcdonalds it had a awesome playground upstairs but they buldozed it for more hotels :(

  • yummy wet cry muriel kiss mm mmmmmmmm

  • STORY OF MY LIFE!

  • Its ironic how the mother was ignored at for the most part now here is everyone at her funeral. All Betty wanted was to be noticed -sadly in death she managed to attain some attention. Bill being the narcissistic git that he is - managed to turn the focus of the funeral onto himself.

  • Mariel and her siblings didnt care much about their mother when she was alive. I'm surprised they reacted at all to her death. To add salt to the wound the home wrecker herself is there to "comfort" everyone.

  • @ftegger4347899

well, there's this saying "you really don't understand how much you appreciate someone until they're gone"...which is quite true. Sometimes we can take people close to us for granted, or we think we care very much about them. But it's only until they are no longer with us that we truly begin to realize just how much they mean to us, and how much we love them.

And this seems to be the same case for Muriel and her siblings regarding their mum's death.

  • I wish someone had punched Deirdre in the face sooooooooo bad

  • I love when Muriel came to get Rhonda from her mom and those horrid girls. She finally had a relationship where she was just loved for who she was. Rhonda gave her self-esteem and made her believe in herself and that she was a good person and not useless. That is a real friend. She didn't sugarcoat anything either. And, although Rhonda was in a wheelchair, she still had a spine and was a healthy influence she needed in her life. All the others were 'useless'- and mean-spirited.

  • Screams volumes on her lack of compassion and empathy to the grieving children. People like this have no patience for others but demand it when it only happens to them. I don't know that I would stop with just one slap.

  • 1:44 She made the ultimate sacrifice for your father. WTF???

  • @bluecatky 'She'd be glad in the end her life amounted to something' that the dad's lover said about Muriel's mother She needs to be slapped for that.

  • I am sure that the evil father will do to his new wife what he did to his old. And she'll deserve every bad thing, every lie, every put-down he lashes out at her. Men like this will never change, they just move on to someone new when the old is on to him.

  • @countryhoney28 Yeah but the new one isn't 'slow'; she seems more able to cope with things so when the dad starts trying to treat her the same way she'll probably leave him eventually. I wonder why Muriel's mom even married that man? I'm wondering if it's just because she was slow and she thought she couldn't do better or no other men were asking her out. Or maybe even her parents or somebody around her told her to pick him because they thought she could never get better than that.

  • Omg murials "husband" is so good-looking wow! Everytime I watch this movie Im like mesmerized ;)

  • She died from a broken heart

  • "What I am gonna do without her?" :Sniff: The actress who plays Joanie breaks my heart in this scene.

  • 8:30 sleeping like angel :) awww my dream husband lol

  • The mother's story is so tragic, but it ultimately leads to Muriel's redemption...classic movie

  • Bill and Deidre deserve each other....all they care about is the publicity! I feel awful for the kids and their mom; They deserved better than to have a jerk for a father and a homewrecker for a stepmother!!!

  • I wish she would of stayed married to David and gave it a shot at least

  • "she made a great sacrifice for your father"....whats that dying so you can marry him bitch???

  • The actress who played Muriel's mum is an Australian actress called Jeanie Drynan...I think she did an awesome job in this film. The events and some of the characters in this movie are based on real life occurrences :-)

  • @hillmaja

This is an Australian film, pretty much most of the actors are Australian.

Seriously, this is one of the best classic films I have ever watched! Much better than some of those crap movies we get nowadays from hollywood.

  • I've seen this film so many times, ever since I was about ten years old. I cry as hard now for how Betty was treated as I did when I was little. She was the true warrior for her family, supportive of her kids even though none of them pulled their weight. The actress who played Betty was fantastic. My heart aches for the mother character as though what I saw here really and truly happened. For all of us here with mothers, lets find them now and give them a big hug/tell them how much we love them

  • And that Derdree (?) bitch taking place and only caring about cleaning the house with her stupid friend while the mother just died...

People like that do exists, and I fucking hate them.

  • i used to walk past that motel all the time but they teared it down a while ago :(

  • i love how he sort of hesitated to kiss her

  • it's interesting how her picture is beneath layers and layers of cuttings about muriel's wedding. like it's symbolising how she put her family before herself, and she always came last....

  • @sazmeister That's what a Mom does!

  • she was a virgin right? LOL

  • He turned out to be a sweetie after all :)

  • what a bitch: "she'll b glad in the end her life amounted to something".

  • i cant here what their saying at 2:40 - 2:50. can you tell me?

  • @mebarela

    --what happened?

    --mum burnt it.

    --why?

---because she got sick and tired of waiting for Perry to mow it.

    ---

  • The father is sick

  • the kids are useless. Did they think they'd have their entire lives to destroy the mother?

  • the mistress should have her face smashed in with a shovel

  • This is one of the most degenerate movies I've ever seen. I hope no one loves it for its reality, because I doubt human life comes as twisted and empty as this.

  • @sebastianquilt Maybe I have lived to long. Because I have seen people more degenerative and twisted people than in this movie.

  • On the Beach Motel.... reference to another great Aussie movie.... check it out on Youtube..

  • rom6566

i could ever loved her shes so pretty and cut i love this couple really why had not a friendship or they get married for love

  • i can relate to the mother just as much as muriel because people took her for granted and didn't even care until she was gone

  • I would have smack the dog shit out of that bitch of a whore that stole her mother's husband. They all were bunch of punks, if my mom died and my dad's mistress tried to come and clean my MOTHER'S house i would beat the crap out of her.

  • One of the most liberating things you can do for yourself is telling someone you don't love them after all.

  • @evachinoy I'm in a situation like that right now but it's really really hard to tell him I don't love him after all. :(

  • @sansjuhh What you should do, is just tell him the truth. Things may already be estranged, and what he may need is closure, so he can move on with his life. Be honest with him about everything, and don't sugar coat it. And if you're with someone else, just tell him. Most likely, he will accept it, and graciously accede. Tell your side, and allow him to give his side as well, and don't disagree with each other nor attack him, just come to a consensus about how to move forward.

  • omg he is fine!

  • How warped was it that the little girl was on the phone gossiping and inviting her mates to her mums funeral as if it were a social event? Sad sad sad...

  • This guy is so yummy! Best Australian movie ever!

  • i hate this part.... its so sad :(

  • No one cared about the mum when she was alive - so its kinds ironic that they expressed any care or concern after her death. It was rather fake and pretentious.

Yeah M should have stayed with David - she was beginning to grow on him lol

  • I FUCKING WANT HER HUSBAND. sorry, that was a random outburst but GOD HES SO FUCKING SEXY D;

  • @Caitshybabes I agree. I would get him alone with some whipped cream and duct tape

  • at least she finally got laid.

  • the father is the worst thing that happened to this familly

  • look at the little girl on the phone @01:04 shes chatting about boys and shes all happy when her mum has just died. Do people like this even exist? Its truely disgusting!!!!

  • she shud of stayed with him x

  • @welshkleeona you missed the point

  • @bosyeux2 aw no i do get the point i just wrote what i would have done

  • Joanie only starts to give a shit about Muriel when mum is dead.

  • i think he is so hot. i am rather jealous of her to be honest but i think it is wrong to marry someone like that because they don't even know each other so what is the point?

i feel so sorry for the mother, seen as she got so annoyed and wound up that she died. no-one in that house does anything, no wonder the mum felt like that:(...

awhhhh, this is the only time that she realises her mother was at the wedding and that she cared that she was getting married. that is so sad:(.

  • He is so fit it hurts, I'd had stayed with him, but I can understand her choosing her friend and her new life in Sydney in the end.

  • He is so fit it hurts, I'd had stayed with him, but I can understand her reasoning for getting with the video shop guy, he would be good to her.

  • This movie is the reality for so many families that I have known in my life.

  • you have to admit her "husband" is very sweet for going to the funeral

  • that deidre women is a bitch.

'she made the ultimate sacrifies for your father, she'll be glad her life amounted to something'.....nice

  • I don't see how that Deidre character has the nerve to even show up at that house. I would have booted her out! I love this movie, you laugh and cry at the same time. The acting is flawless and the story is terrific.

  • hes very hot

  • What a BitCh i Wouldnt Have Left him...haha..Just if i Got Really SiCk Of Him ..Eh. As If he's tOO Hot that David hmmm ..... ;)

  • What a BitCh i Wouldnt Have Left him...haha..Just if i Got Really SiCk Of Him ..Eh. As If he's tOO Hot that David hmmm .....;)

  • He's married to Fay Ripley now. Lucky bitch !

  • damn wood i like to b married 2 his fine ass! ;)

  • almost makes you feel like you're in oz watching it (from u.s.).

  • That dad is such a bastard! The mother was a saint and a good woman, I feel bad for the next woman that gets involved with that Bastard.

  • He's so beautiful, his eyes are captivating. I could just stare into them forever.

  • it,s all sad what happened to the mum i cried the first time i seen it poor mum .but the reality is that the father brang that family down and no one else he didn,t want to break his pride you know what you can do with your pride ya dog if you were my old man i would of dropped 10 times by now !! PIG..

  • Gosh, this movie is so heartbreaking at times, but so good. I loved it. One thing though...if I were Muriel, I'd probably do David one more time before I left the hotel. :-)

  • @MsRainsHere lmao u right abt dat one more time ....naw i wouldve got my friend but kept my husband wat the chance shed find another dude like him

  • This is a really sad film - but really hilarious at the same time.

  • Ok is anyone else crying??? I hope I'm not the only one..

  • I'm watching this for at least the 10th time and still...

  • It's so sweet that David came to the funeral... <3

  • I can't believe Deidre even had the never to show up at the family's house after the mother's death. If I were Muriel I would have said a few choice words to her. Love this movie!

  • A wonderfuilly touching moment from this incredible filkm

  • Jeanie Drynan did a marvellous job protraying Mrs Heslop.

  • Muriel has lovely blue eyes :)

  • that little bitch on the phone needs to realise she has just lost the most important person in her life and not talk and flirt if my mom did what muriel's mom did i would have a complete melt down

  • ugh i could not have a lazy bumm going around like that at my house i would tell him to get his ass off the soffa and get a job, he looks horrible. I guess the mothers to sweet to tell him that

  • it's all their fault for being such jerks to their mum

  • Wow..now that I watched it again, I felt that the kiss was really random.

  • i'm surprised no one else has mentioned that they felt sorry for rhonda after she became ill.i know its only a film, but i hope her character continuedto stay in good health after they got rid of the tumour, and i felt really sorry for muriels mum too !

  • Daniel Lapaine is sizzling HOT! He is absolutely delicious to watch in this film! Does anyone know of any other films he has starred in?

I love Muriel's Wedding! I wish they would make a sequel. I'm so proud this is an Australian film and the level of success it has received internationally. The cast is absolutely brilliant!

  • Yeah he looks like a Ken doll, lol. Seriously, I didn't know Ken was a real person.

  • i think he was in 'The 10th Kingdom'...

  • sooooo sad when she learns her mother was at the wedding yet she didn't notice her. I just wanna cry

  • It was at that moment she realised what a selfish bitch she had turned into.....

  • I want to throttle Dierdre Chambers!!!

  • "I like having you around." That's more important than people think.

  • Like a fuck buddy?

  • I think when her new husband shows compassion and humanity towards Muriel it's really sweet.

  • thanks so much, everyone was telln me wat a great film this is, and yes it was. i was so missn out be4 . thanks

  • When I first watched this I was so moved with sadness for the Mum. Nobody ever noticed her or gave her any credit. She was a robot and did not assert herself, she just let people walk all over her. nobody really loved her, even the Dad showed his heart was for him, he never cared for her, this was obvious, disgustingly obvious. This Mum character was very moving although her part was relatively small. Good job for the actress who played her.

  • I so agree with you ^_^ !! She played a awsome role as the mom and her character was moving ^_^ !!! It's really sad she died that way, I geuss it was everyone that killed her inside and out, i'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything altogether to do with the fact that her husband left her.Everyone was pretty much breaking her heart.

  • @RiquetRudeau True. That was very sad.

  • @RiquetRudeau They didn't show any care for her, even when she died. Did you see the way the dad acted at her wedding? And the son helping him see if those people were writing things down. Muriel ran out of the funeral because she became the very thing her father was, she was selfish, just like him.

  • @RiquetRudeau I agree with you!

I think it was very very sad. I am sure stuff like this has really happened in real life with families, as far as what happened with the mother and the wedding and what happened there. So sad...

  • @RiquetRudeau I agree! He was a turd and the kids were trolls, but mostly because he always told them how useless they were. Parents can be very powerful people!

  • @skudaarkaat1 Wow, that last sentence you wrote is so true, why do you think I feel so connected with feelings of the Mom? I have my own issues with a parent and their lack of concern for anyone but their own feelings. So very sad!

  • @RiquetRudeau ..the actress playing the mother is Jeanie Drynan..she was superb..another movie she is in was 'Soft Fruit'..another excellent Australian movie
