Stephqaz.... what's the difference between the Corvalis' G1000 and the Garmin Perspective? They both have the same ready pad and identical functionality. I only have 400 time, though. Is there something I'm missing?
The drawbacks to adding retracts would be a decrease in useful load by 120 lbs and tack a cool $80,000 onto the existing $644,000 price tag! Combined with market research that showed little interest in the retract option for the new production 172s, 182s, and 206s, Cessna will not be prusuing this option.
@sksakm14. I recently talked with a Cessna rep and learned that there will NOT be a retractable gear version of the CE-400 Corvallis TT. Both Cessna and Columbia engineers before them studied the problem and determined they could only gain 8-10kts of airspeed doing so.(the current landing gear with fairings is pretty clean as is).
@cff121 I find this hard to believe. That sticking that stuff right out there in the wind will only slow you down 10 kts. Honestly. Your going 250kTAS and sticking something that solid out there will just reduce you rspeed by that speed of a roller blader.... really??
You know there have been calculations that are wrong
wow, hot gal flying the columbia :P . the VNAV function in the G1000 is almost useless because vertical guidance is inhibited from the FAF in a gps approach .. for sure, its a saftey consideration on gps accuracy
it is not recommanded to put retractable gear on a small plane due to the lack of space and the low power the enjines gives compared to a treant 900 of a 777. but the g1000 is good all right
and because of that it is easier to insure although I am a commercial rated pilot avemco would not sell me insurance for one maybe its because im 19 hmm couldnt afford it anyway right now. rather get a baron or similar sized twin.
It sucks & the music really sucks!

I love the plane just don't really like the plain G1000, would rather have the Garmin perspective, much more bang for your buck.

Can't wait to fly this machine. Notice the controller is also a female. We need Sarah Palin in this video.

This isn't actually the worlds fastest piston. The Mooney Acclaim Type S holds that title with a max. cruise speed of 242 knots.
Soldier0117 3 years ago
Yeah but with the fixed gear it's pretty damn fast.
