  • Godless intelligent! You will never reach the level of boom boom pow, kittens, girls gone wild, or Kardasyans..

  • I am imagining Pete Seeger smiling

  • DEEP METAPHORS!

Wrecks can be found at these depths.

  • You always make me smile. Good song! :)

  • Koch brothers' wealth has risen by 43% in the past year. That kind of thing. Glug glug...

  • On all fronts, Roy is simply the best -- in a classy class by himself.

  • No one can beat Roy Zimmerman for lyrics that tell it like it is, all while using comedy. This man is a genius: great lyrics that actually rhyme, excellent guitar playing, high energy performance. He's become the teller of the American story! Also love his song, "Hope, Struggle and Change!" That one should be the anthem of the Occupy movement.

  • sounds like something stan rogers would play

  • @neomp5 i was just thinking that, he sounds just like him

  • what does he say during the chorus outwardly noble?

  • @OlcroTheSoldier Upwardly mobile, I think, is what he's saying.

  • There was another Titanic song by Leadbelly about

boxing champ Jack Johnson being denied passage

"cause they weren't hauling no coal". The version

I heard by Koener Ray and Clover should have

    been a hit record.

  • @danger0usknowledge Hi - I think this song is a metaphor for our current economy, with the 1% not even aware of what's happening to the 99% .... i'm just sayin'........

  • As of August 2011, this is officially the American theme song. =\

  • This song reminds me of the Stephen Baird song "Your End Of The Boat Is Sinking" except it's about Global Warming instead of the economic meltdown.

Both Stephen Baird (and the Galapagos Mountain Boys) and Roy Zimmerman are AWESOME song writers - both with nice political punches.

  • fkn awesome talent!

this is like a metaphor for america rite?

    "trickle drown" economics LOL!

  • fkn awesome. zimmerman is dat dude. i mean the gal of this guy, to educate ppl while still making u laugh...unheard of!

  • @cappadinoceo He IS awesome, but not the first. Check out Tom Lehrer and the Smothers Brothers...Roy's predecessors who combine comedy and dissent. He also has Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert to back him up. And if you were being sarcastic, right on!

  • Two people are on the end that's risin.

  • This song is definitely underviewed. Brilliant work.

  • Roy is the complete package! He's an amazing guitarist, singer, lyricist, comedian, and entertainer who knows how to work the crowd. And you know you've found TRUE TALENT when they can entertain while remaining fully dressed the entire time. ;-)

  • Another brilliant song. How much does it cost to hire this guy for a party? I would pay 500 dollars.

  • Lovely, both the song and the delivery. A crash course, as it were, in economics.

  • Election over, time to resume the sinking.

  • How can you not make epic music with a last name like that

  • Absolutely wonderful...esp the "vote Republican" Is there any way all citizens in the U.S. could be sent the VoteR segment?...at least try to send to all independents and Dems. Maythe the wanna be Oligarcy behind the "let's bring Obama down might change?

  • I remember clicking on roys site a few years back. Just revisited and the man is a genius. Have subscribed and look forward to a dose of laughter at us.

  • This reminds me of something that Gov. Pat Quinn (D-IL) said: I remember the phrase is "A rising tide lifts all boats" not "A rising tide lifts all yachts."

  • that was real good!

  • This is the most ingenious metaphor for the economy I have encountered. I have read reams of verbiage on the crash of. Now a 2 and a half minute music video makes them all redundant.

  • "No one we know below, we know."

How true. How can people forget where we were two years ago.

They were NOT the good times. Don't let them roll again.

  • Happy Birthday! Your the best!

  • Reply on twitter to @Rally4Sanity and tell them to bring Roy!!! Link his channel!

  • Completely awesome. Have to say that this is one of my absolute favorites so far.

  • love it!

  • "trickle drown economics" is just brilliant.

  • Fantastic work! I had to applaud even though I'm just alone at home :)

  • You should perform with your banjo. You'd get extra points from me.

  • It was poeple from economy class on top-deck as the hull broke, the rich were off or had chosen not to go over-board, it took ageees to go down, and the crew go no bonus's, the hour the ship went down all wages were stoppped.

(sorry to be the nagging one.)

  • @temporaldisplacement It's not really about the titanic; the analogy doesn't have to be perfect to be appealing and humorous.

  • @soylentgreenb Oh I know, I just felt compelled to give my two cents.

  • @temporaldisplacement Better keep those two cents. Never know where the next two will come from.

  • @Theroha Its alright ...seems 2 cents will soon be 1 pence ...I can afford 1 pence.

  • Best analogy ever!

  • @Mahoivlich I second that.

  • Genius. I'm buying your CD when I next go to the States, that's a promise.

  • I feel quenched.

  • @rongrite Ya wanna REALLY feel quenched? Watch his next video, "Firing the Surgeon General"!

  • Brilliant!

    ...again.

  • I LOVE YOU ROY

  • Superb.

  • This guy is a brilliant satirist,is comedy central looking?

  • @lovebanditt Its the faces he makes to the brilliantly written lyrics that really sets him apart from other satirists.

  • @corthew - Yes, that & his beautiful voice, incredible range, original melodies and his wicked guitar skills!

  • Brilliant :-)

  • What ship are ya talkin' about, or is this really about sumthin else?

  • @McDaidUSA I think you should just stick to writing songs about sexy men (i.e. "Dick Cheney" where I don't have to think so much :).

  • @McDaidUSA Ship is the economy. Iceberg was the financial crash. When he says "on the end of the ship that's rising while the other end goes down" he is referring to the widening gap between the upper and lower class.

  • @wall0645 But more specifically to the very recent news that Corporate Profits are up across the board, not on higher revenue (revenue is down), but from firing staff. Classic case of cutting off your nose to spite your face. "Look, profits are up" "yes, because you fired so many staffers" "But look, profits are up, that's all Wall Street cares about" "damn, you're right, our stock price is up. Kaching!"

  • @wall0645 I was just playin dumb, but thanks for the xplanation!

  • Yeah, I think this is your best one.

  • Yep, we're all in the same boat - just at different ends.

  • Best sea chanty EVER!

  • This is one of your very best! Relevant, Funny, Musical, Awesome!

  • Roy, how you manage to present such intelligent messages in your music and make them funny at the same time is just astounding, you have amazing talent. I'm always pleased when I see a video of yours appear in my subscription box.

  • @TheOrangeFondler no way to express how much i second that... lol. Bloody amazing.

  • @TheOrangeFondler Unbelievably talented man.

  • Funny and irreverent; tragic and true.

  • dude, these songs get better and better and better. I rather hope harry shearer will feature you on his show one day. have you submitted anything to him? he gets good international subscription and he's always writing your types of songs, although, if i'm brutally honest, he doesn't write them nearly as well as you do.

have a go, Roy, the worst he can say is nothing at all!

  • Not just funny, but it sounds really nice, too! I love it!

  • Man your stuff goes from great to amazing

  • Epic :o)

  • Roy Zimmerman is actually a very good singer, as well as being funny.

  • @procritic09 And a great guitarist too!

  • Brilliant, as always.

  • Sounds like you've been listening to Irish music lately. :-)

  • Damn, I wish it was the other end of the ship under water first.

  • Bloody brilliant!

  • I'm glad you're regularly posting Roy!

  • Astonishingly good!

  • Hey! HD! Loved the song to BTW.

  • LOL! Awesome!

  • Absolutely genius! Accessible yet accurate metaphor.

  • Hey Roy I know you don't take requests, but something that might make a neat song is how Jimmy Carter had a plan for the US to have renewable free self-efficient energy, which was canceled then by Reagan, you know, the greatest president everever. watch?v=gwzyvkc1tb4

  • genius!

  • Great job.
