  • Luke Skywalker much?

  • That isn't Chris Sharrock drumming.. is it?

  • These guys are miming . I can hear the Rickenbacker 12 string very clearly. It ain't on stage

  • Any reason why the drummer is standing?

  • One of the most joyous pieces of music ever committed to disc.

  • Just say no kids, look at Lee Mavers and then remember JUST SAY NO

  • god, even for the 90 this sucked.

  • @timothyforvendetta You must be deaf.

  • i was wonderin what happen to these guys ?

  • @mudspud01 Yeah they didnt seem to last very long did they

  • I love that 60s Byrds sound they get on this gorgeous tune

  • @Promoagent i know i was thinkin the same thing man

  • same haircut heh

  • WAtching this you can see the strength in John Power ( went onto a successful career with CAST & solo too) on the backing vocal! I over-looked that first time around!

    Great band/ Great Track!

  • best song about "h" ever.

  • i think this song completely killed their genius as a band. Its unfortunate coz they did way cooler stuff.although this song brought me to know them.

  • This was a great night. The La's played their album straight through with a couple of extras.

Then after Brown comes on and plays the Roses.

    :D

  • I bl**dy love that song- I love the S. Roses...Ian Brown's doing good-I think everything I hear of his Is Fckn A1-

I Love Sister Rose....(my fav at the mo-but I just love ALL Browny's stuff! "Free that girl-you know she's gold, you know she RULES THE WORLD!!)...or something like that-

@houstonveer..... Yeah makes me want a hit too.....[but im too smart to do that, Youtube police!!- Nah, I dont need it!!! ]]

    Love em all

  • That's where Noel G got that look from!

  • @oneUNITED7SS

yh they're one of his favourite bands i think.

  • Tja, eines der besten Lieder aller Zeiten und ich als Drogenhasser habe 3 Jahre gebraucht bevor ich merkte dass das Lied über Drecks-Heroin geht. Trotzdem gutes Lied aus meiner Jugend.

  • me mate says this is about H. yeah, capital H. i never thought that.... - a couple o' fans in Texas

  • Can expat Yanks relocate to Scotland to take up junkiedom fulltime? Because that's what I want to do every time I here this gem.

  • In Scotland it is the deep fried mars bars that get you in the end. Drugs only weaken you, the deep fried stuff finishes you off.

  • are u a junkie

  • Lee Mavers looks like Scott Walker.

Just thought I'd share that thought.

  • i was there that year!!! :D

  • Powers and Mavers look amazingly young just a little more rugged.

They were tots I suppose when they started the La's after all 18 and 17.

    Jb

  • shut up fag

  • he sort of went flat but overall i think they were quite good!!:)lol

  • the bass actually sung like he did in the beginning days of the band. thats his trademark if you listen to the 1988 version.

  • i didnt say he had to whisper.... do ppl always take comments to the extreme. Is it not possible to sing and not whisper but yet overshadow the actual lyrics to the song. Think smart one.

  • I think you'll find the studio version replicates the same level of volume that the backing singer conveys in this live performance...Maybe you just dont like the song or indeed the "deutshbag' whos name is john power.

  • Comment removed

  • Part of the song is it not? what should he do?...keep quiet or whisper...fucks sake.

  • does he fuck, lee mavers is the las. he wrote the songs twat, its his band!!1

  • why the audience is just... standing there like bored?

    this band is awesome

  • @stampedechobass

Yeah to true mate- id have LOVED to been there-Id have been Leaping around like an idiot...

    I love gigs/festivals-

    you can't beat them.....

They're the best invention-but they should be free festys-like Stonehenge was- back in the day- infact they ALL were!.....

Poxy Capitalisms is shit when you havent got any POXY Capital-!! b*ll*x ;p

  • @stampedechobass You try moving in that crowd with a band playing everybody wants to be as close to as possible :P last time I tried that at glasto... well I can't remember what happened afterwards..

  • i forgot how good these lads are! nice 60's feel

  • i'm sure there was a story about the drummer, that he was watchin in the crowd early on,then found out that they were with out a drummer,so he got up and did the gig,?can any one please confirm this tale?

  • This is a perfect song.

I wish Lee Mavers would get his shit together and release some new material !

  • Leave Lee alone and let him create in his own time & place. Maybe he'll never write a gem like this again, but then again he might.

  • greate song :)

btw tell me plz what's this on singer microphone?

  • Only another microphone...a 'green hornet' mic commonly used by harmonica players

  • When he sang that song in 88.

    It was better

  • Quite simply one of the greatest songs ever.

  • In liverpool says that Lee Mavers is second only to Lennon as a songwriter... probably it is exagerated but... this song is immense...

  • cavernbirch, I can honestly admit that happy mondays are a bag of wank shafts, but the stone roses were fukin immense, but as a mancunian a cant help but admit that the la's are better.

  • mate, how can you say the la's are better? Musically? They don't have a john squire, mani or reni. Just listen to the Roses play on songs like Resurrection and it is STREETS AHEAD of this. This is lovely and melodic, but the riffs, the complexity, the musicianship, the guitar and drumming, are just simply not in the same league as the Roses mate. That's why the Roses are consistently in the top bands of all time awards, and the La's are not. Still, the La's are good and this is a catchy song

  • W.F.L - say no more

  • you just did a search to find them....hahahahaha!

  • you had the roses and the mondays .we ad the laas and the faaarrm so fuck of manchester

  • he got his gardener to do his drumming for this as far as i know.

  • something very wrong with the drumming here. VERY wrong..

  • You wouldn't want him knocking on your door... he'd never know when to come in.

  • Lee is so fuckin cool on this vid. As cool as Ian Brown and Liam!

  • Agreed. Both those guys are overexposed and overestimated talentLESS bitches.

  • a fitty at 34 seconds....just thort id add my two penneth

  • who's on the drums???

    Chris Sharrock who joined Oasis?

  • wonderful song. lee mavers has lost his voice

  • I forgot about NIrvana also.

  • The Bee Gees wrote all of their shit. If I had my list all over to do again. I would probably leave this band out.

  • poor aul lee mavers doesnt sound the best here. shame. wish they played oxegen.

  • they did play oxegen in 2005 and i was there.twas one of the best gigs i was ever at.fuckin amazing.

  • 1. The Beatles

    2. The Clash

    3. The Beach Boys

    4. The Bee Gees

    5. The La's

    6. The Libertines

  • Twat!

  • How can you possible put the bee gees in the same list as the clash are you completely insane?

  • third best band from liverpool

  • 1. The Beatles

    2. Echo & the Bunnymen

    3. The La's

    :)

  • If your talking about waiting for songs you've heard ;) then how about the Cult?

  • I dont disagree with them being all class bands, however, mine would be different but all of those you have put would be in my top 10.

  • hicieron 'famosa' una cancion disque There she goes en 1988, que años mas tarde en los 90's Sixpence None the Richer hace un cover de esta, probablemente la hayas escuchado.

  • esa bandani la acia en el mundo¬¬

    quienes soN???? o_o

    de que año???

  • 1981 probablente de California fue muy conocida con esta cancion There she goes

    Chiclayo-Peru

  • gracias gracias.....

  • course i wont... i was born in bootle mate.

  • i was young and oasis were my fave band, the beatles i had heard from a young age and love even more but the self titled album "the la's" is the best album i have ever heard! this is one band that has only one studio album that could stand the test of time with anything! live performances are one offs and so were the la's! lee mavers i beg you write another album and if it is 1/10 as good as the first you will be doing alright!!!

  • couldnt agree more.words cant describe how good that album is.lee wont be doin a la's album..he's recording stuff at the mo.we might never hear it because he's a perfectionist and probably wont release it.lets keep the fingers crossed anyway

  • the la's are my fave band! they may not be the best in other peoples eyes as you said but when i first heard that album it was like a missing piece of the jigsaw! mavers may be a perfectionist but if he wasn't then he wouldn't be a genius, the pitfalls of greatness are sometimes far outweighed by the downfalls it creats, gazza, best, maradonna can all account for this.....

  • Class comments. know exactly what ur saying.

i wish they would go on tour again. imagine them playing at the barrows?

best debut album of all time.

even better than the stone roses or diffently maybe.

  • ITS A V.GOOD ALBUM but THE STONE ROSES IS BETTR.FACT...MAVERS=DOGS BOLLOCKS......pulsin through my veins....BROWN=smack

  • I like this song but it was rather bad performance. they look and sound as if like they don't care about what others are playing. You know, don't FEEL like a band. Maybe they need to spend more time together, drink beer and chase girls... you know

  • Nice. Godd to see them perform live.

Lee Mavers and John Power are there. But anyone konows what happend to Cammy and the other Mavers?

  • the guitarist is jay lewis.plays withpower and a band called cractilla.the drummer is mavers gardener

  • look, your all missing the point? The fact that you,me or anyone thinks they have a right to an opinion on the relavance of someone else's music or place in the withering domain of music within the census's popular culture thats defined by englands failure to appreciatte, let alone truly identify "a bloody good band"is a juxtoposition that pertains to the non-exclusive subsequent fore-telling that pre-dates forebodeing of appreciation. All that counts is basic?Dis you enjoy the song?

  • I just wish the Las kept it together. Mavers was a fragile genius and needed handling with care. He was'nt coz our music industry doesnt let talent blossom.

Its such a shame we didnt get more from them in their day. Just like the Roses and Nirvana.

  • hear hear

  • u r talkin absolute bollox,i hav no respect 4 people who havnt a clue like u,let me tell u somethin, the la's album pisses on anythin oasis done even wen the la's werent happy with it,also my m8 drummed at the ireland gig n lee wanted 2 stage a big 1 in britain,so who does he want 2 support? oasis n wat did liam n noel say..we'll support yous anyday, this is supposedly the biggest band in uk supportin a bnd that hasnt been goin 4 17 yrs! plain 2 c..and is right oasis, clued up la,l n ng respect

  • Saying an album is better than another is purely down to opinion, however if you read any of Top 100 greatest UK album polls, you always see that Oasis are near the top (or more often than not, top). I'm not saying The La's are shit, but in my opinion they're/were not as good as Oasis.

And about the supporting thing, that's utter nonsense. Oasis may have supported The La's, but that doesn't mean anything. The Foo Fighters have supported Oasis and they're one of the biggest bands on the planet.

  • The La's are fuckin awesome but not as good as oasis...

  • Scouse power, you'll never undestand it.

  • its a hard one to call.but ur entitled to the opinion.tis like anything.who's better the beatles or stones.most people would say beatles.then someone will come along and say the stones.so anyone giving u a thumbs down are just ignorant.

  • lee mavers kinda looks like noel gallagher in this, back then he looked like mick jagger.

  • My favourite song...

  • Kitchen CDR

    megaupload dot com / ? d = 9 L U A C B E J

  • hello everybody, now we dont no what the leed singers called but me and me mate hav bean smokin skunk for 20 years and weve got teeth like im.

  • Lee Mavers

  • give a shit

  • Nice to see the band back together at Glastonbury. Sad to see here that there are a lot of people who really don't know what they are talking about. Get a life - sad people. Great vid, thanks for posting.

  • What a load this is....no balls

  • omfg this song isnt about heroine go get ur facts right

the band itself denied it and so did the media later on , it was a misinterpretation...

  • Chilli you are a fucking idiot!

  • I absolutely love this song!

  • Oasis are, and always have been, overblown garbage. I mean come on: they quote from the beatles in their songs as if that will somehow elevate them. It's pretentious as hell...

  • Well said mate, am glad some people know about music and realize how average oasis are!!

  • I completely agree. They have always been seen as a smarmy, whiney bunch in the States.

  • seems to have elevated them quite a bit m8, fuckin garbage haha wise up! get a life, NOEL IS A FUCKING LEGEND!

  • Noel is a fucking Bellend, not a Legend

  • hahaha whatever you say

  • Oasis are the most over-rated band in the history of music.

Liam is a talentless bell-end and Noel is a plagiarist, rehashing other peoples talent and selling it to the ignorant masses

  • Oasis are another band hell bent on their own self importance & the music is average & overrated. The La's had one album that they worked on for many years & a very good one. There are more songs on the Calling All demos CDs, but they were basically a one album band. Lots of infighting, a revolving door of musicians because Lee was a control freak much like "Gotcha!" James Brown! I really love their contribution to music but I don't think they'd be particularly good friends or fun to be around.

  • The only thing that killed the LA was that curley haird mong !

  • And the fact that they wrote a song about shooting heroin...

  • you know, oasis is a very good band, thanks to them i hope we will never forget the old bands who made such good music. like the la's and the smiths

  • better than oasis, oasis are gods but the only reason these boys arent recognised is because they released one album

  • even now theyve still got it in them! awesome band!

  • Gallagher is the first to admit he we was inspired by the Las. Saw them a few times before the record came out - top top band. If you are reading this, you should put some of your stuff out on the web Lee.

  • i dont say that mavers was shit, he is a big influence on Noel, hear Freedom Song, and The Importance Of Being Idle, and you can note the influence, i just say all that for those one who said that oasis sucks

  • the dude from oasis?? you dont have music on you, you cant talk if you dont know the gallaghers so botter of,

and Oasis is more big than youtube asshole

  • Oasis isn;t even in the same class as Mavers and Power, the LA's second rate tunes rate a mile higher than anything oasis has put out,The more you search into Lee Mavers the more you realize this guy is is a fucken unique talent,Was it something I said,I am the key,Callin all,These tunes are priceless,I just hope he and Power are working on releasing something soon.

  • who gives a shit if its about drugs, the point is its a catchy good tune!!!!!!!!!

  • This guy looks like the dude from Oasis.

  • rather than that, the dude from Oasis (Liam) looks like him.

  • That's true. Oasis sucks.

  • i've heard it's abt drugs, abt blowjobs, bt i prefer believing it's abt a woman - the song's so mch more meaningful that way

  • smack suks

  • He named his record deal Alison, this song was about it....

  • nice drum sound

  • ha i knew it

  • the singer looks like hes a smackhead

  • well spotted..done more brown than elton johns boyfriends had brown.

  • thats because the song is about smack

  • lead guitarist is my guitar teacher

  • I would probably know you then lol.

  • The whole album this comes from is quite good.

  • quite good what the fuck its a classic

  • that drummer looks like john powers roadie. saw johnny boy at the carling academy, newcastle and he was awesome!

  • amazing, In True LA's Style,

for all of you, they were never meant to sound polished y'know

  • im in love with this song not normal im like about 2 marry it!!!

  • JUST INCREDABLE I know the la's more than most people and they a brilliant at they still rock now!!

  • lee mavers had mouth uslers or wisdon teeth problems around this time..explains the dodgy vocals..seen him live not long after this and his voice was better than ever..roll on early next year for the new album..c mon mavers son

  • I wouldn't say they were dodgy vocals, just not up to the level on the CD.

  • hoo

    they don't look so good.

  • 15 yrs on aND THEY CAN STILL ROCK GLASTO WHY THEY EVER BRAK UP THE ORIGIONAL OASIS

  • i read he asked the drummer to play standing

  • new drummer, please sit down. Lee and John are the stars, not you. and where's your big bass drum with The La's written on it? get with the program, man.

  • mate drafted in at very short notice who can't even play. lee told him to stand.
