@AUS10TAT10US I imagine that most E46 M3 drivers, probably many E92 M3 drivers, and 3 series drivers in general would take the E46 M3 over a newer G37.
M3 is such a better line than G37 that even across generations going backward it has a better/more performance oriented feature set; and both cars improve a bunch across generations going forward.
@AUS10TAT10US ...I also count many more Gs on the road than Ms.. That counts for something too.. many more people who don't care much about performance drive G's than M's.

I've owned a G37S for 3 years now and I couldn't be happier. Great looks, nice exhaust note and going to work every morning in it is awesome. A nice sophisticated Japanese import for everyday driving...and with gas prices this high, I'm glad it's pretty efficient.
@blineguy Do you really love it? I love Nissan/Infiniti and the G37S. I've heard it wasn't terribly efficient (21mpg combined) but it's definitely better than the M3. I love the straight six sound of the M3, but the G37's burbling V6 is really nice too. Plus the M3 being a German car might have high maintenance. I suppose when they're revving up the straight 6 and the V6 don't sound all that different.
@CALL0911 The S54, the S65, please. Granted the S52 sucked and was nothing like the S50, but there have been very capable engines since. The E36 was a piece of shit build wise and performance wise. @ariafreak i have owned both...now, driving a 2006 bmw m3 e46. Had a G for a year, but after driving back to back comparison with my brother's bmw 3, i just had to trade in for a BMW. Ended up with a M3 E46 ZCP, and never have i been happier. G is a good car, indeed, that's no doubt about it. But when it comes to comparing with BMW, it just lacks that sharp handling around the corner, and the ride of G feels a bit blurry, and it lacks a bit of character. But overall, G is a good car.
Ok before anybody gets 'hurt' I drive a BMW. I gotta say though that the only reason the G's time was slow was due to getting off the line... Right when the green light comes on, you see the G37's rear tires spin for a second... the M3 had excellent grip off the line.
G37 got a shitty driver and probably an AT. I have a 370Z MT (no sport package, bone stock) and rip on M3s all day! G37 is a little slower than 370Z so it should be neck to neck, not a 5 cars difference
