I met him back in 1990 while filming a tv movie called "Over My Dead Body". I was a security guard at the time and was posted at the filming locations in San Francisco. He was a nice man. I was not aware he'd passed on 2 years ago, until I looked him up on Wikipedia...
Nobody could play the intimidating hardman as well as Edward Woodward-nobody. He was superb in Callan, utterly convincing and full of menace when he wanted to be. The scene from the Callan film when he takes out the giant Arthur is incredible. He made the audience REALLY believe in him. Robert McCall was really a reworked version of Callan. A wonderful, talented actor- RIP Edward.
Edward will always be remembered, for all the wonderful work he has done, just a lovely warm man,who cared about pleasing people on and off stage and screen, the world is a lesser place without him,i will always love you edward xx
RIP a very talented and lovely man

He really did stick to "one kind of character". He generally played a man of authority.

Wish that I could have met him, and thanked him for his legacy.

A great actor. I think he was at his best in the 1970s BBC series 1990, in which he played the journalist Jim Kyle.
