Many agree that Marquesas wasn't a great season...lucky for Rob the castaways sucked personality-wise, so they just brought him back w/little to choose from in All-Stars, but that's all it took for his true playing skills to come out!

John Carroll voted out THE GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME!!!!!111. He was voted out in Marquesas because he was cocky. I would say he's a good player, but hell, anyone could win the game on their 4th try, especially in a tribe of idiots that had never seen Survivor (face it. Only Andrea, Francesca, and maybe Kristina had seen the show on that tribe.)

In Marquesas he gets voted off early because he is such a threat.

In All-Stars he dominates but loses by one vote because he screwed too many people over.

In Heroes and Villians his ally Tyson his screws up his whole alliance. The blunder changed the course the game. There's no doubt that if he stuck to the split vote, it would have been Rob's alliance to the end.

In Redemption Island, yeah he won against idiots, but hey, he played a damn good game!

I'd say he's one of the best ever..

He is a great player strategically one of the best but definitely not the best ever. Still one of my favourite survivor players though. I personally think best winners should be Chris, Brian and Yul but then again everyone has their favourites.

I remember this season still, was mad when Rob was voted out and I hate that stupid smirk that John does when Rob is voted out. Doesn't really matter cause Rob married a winner (Amber) in all stars and won himself in Redemption Island :) Not to mention won the fan vote for an extra 100k on top of the million.

Aside from Rob I don't think it's possible to have as bad of a cast as they did in season 4. Boring & lame. There were about 4 likable people & they all got voted off prior to the jury. This was the first survivor where there was no one likable left to even care about the show. Actually the chick who got 3rd wound up being the closest thing to like able, which is really bad, because she bugged and was probably one of the more unlikeable players in the beginning. The finalists were so lame.

Survivor season 4 was really bad overall. There was really no one like-able left after Boston Rob got voted off. This show had 0 strategy. The race card and the god card got really old in this one as well. I can't believe someone would have the balls to say god is why they won in front of the person that just lost.

Boston Rob used his brain once he blew it for himself right in the first week. He aligned himself with lazy Sean and sort of with the hot chick and votes the strong off...bad!

@Desponded1, no. Survivor will always be about strategizing around being liked. No player who doesn't reach a certain threshold won't ever win. Rob is definitely more equipped to win survivor than Russell, though Russell knows how to effectively sacrifice the ultimate goal for stability.

Parvati is the best survivor (cough). It's why everyone made sure she didn't win from the start.

lol boston rob was in this season for less than 15 days out of 37 and now he is one of the best survivors to ever play, he learned from marquesas went to all stars and munipulated everyone to tears and ended up in second to his wife, lol start out 11 go to second get 2 cars a smoking hot wife in amber and don't for get the 1.5 million the two one combined lol yeah he lost in the end

russel is my favorite to win last season. but he is trying to destroy the tribe now. and this is a favor for the heroes. rob is trying to unite the tribe to get an advantage against a very strong heroes tribe. heroes are really strong but villains are very smart. obviously heroes are formed to dominate, the males are so big. BUT villains are really smart with their skinny bodies.

heroes are acting villains while villains are united. i like rob to win.

Although Russel has overall been more successful, Rob is superior in almost every way. Jeff probst himself said that Rob has the greatest compliment of skills out of anyone ever to play the game. He always dominates the physical and puzzle challenges and is a very cunning strategist. Rob is better at providing for his tribe, better in challenges, better in leadership skill, better with social interaction, and I would argue, a better strategist than Hantz.

Russell had a flawed strategy. It was based on ego and misread first impressions. He actively alienated people and misjudged the threat level of all player but himself. He lost twice, BADLY. How is the "best"? I may be a good passer, but that doesn't mean I'm going to win soccer games.

Russell eliminated many people he should've kept to the end (Shambo, John), and generally acted like a dick. He got two votes. The best player is the one that wins. That is the only way you can determine one's skill level. If I ran a marathon and got second, the fact of the matter is, I didn't run the best.

CBS gave Boo Bennis a positive edit and he punched a chick three years later. And edit doesn't mean shit. Just ask the multiple accounts of people who actually played the game with Russell.

Sandra may have tricked Russell nicely but Coach was after all complaining loudly about him, plus Russell got a free idol from the heroes. Rupert is so uptight about "honor" that he is considered one of the worse strategic players in history, and Jerri was already hinged towards voting Parvati.

HoV was considered one of the best seasons in the game, and it's no coincidence Russell was mainly in the limelight.

Rupert is a bad player, but Russell is one of the most overall unpleasant people on the show, and Rupert easily exposed that. Jerri stated in her boot interview she had intentions on voting Russell. Then he let Parvati blow it for him.

His only flaw in his game plan is not realizing that if everyone in the jury hates you, you aren't going to win. Sounds like a pretty obvious thing, but i bet if you were in the game, things would get very cloudy.
