i have alot of trouble keeping sort corals they are fine at the shop (really big and open) then the second i put them in my tank they close up a basically start to die please help any one
Soft coral are normaly very hardy. The only things I can think of that might cause a quick death for softies would be copper present in your water in some form. Many fish medications contain copper. If copper isnt present it can also be caused by high temperture. Temperatures above 85-86 degrees can quickly kill many types of coral.
My new 38gal w/21lbs LR has been set up a week and the perams are staying the same: Nitrites0, Nitrates 0, Ammonia 0, 1.023, 79 degrees. Is this normal or should I have patience that it will spike?
okay so I got my 14g oceanic bio cube set up, i put in one small bag of live sand, 2.5 pounds of live rock and then a week later I took some of the water to be tested and it had 0 amonia and 0 nitrates and then i got anothe rlive rock 2.5 pounds and then 2 clown fish and its been 5 days. Has my tank already cycled?
@PrinzessinKaylan NO, generally it takes around 2-3 weeks to cycle tanks, maybe shorter with your small tank. adding some stability will further help your cycleing and to also lower nitrates. DO NOT put any high or med light corals in a bio cube.
@M0Etivation something around 1000 gallons per hour and up would be good. most people say around 8x the tanks water being cycled per hour is about good.
is it normal for fish to be fighting cause my white tailed damselfish and my yellow tailed demoissele are fighting and also is it normal for the black and white fish to have a brown forehead not black. cause i have two of those black and white but 1 yellow tailed one should i get one more of those yellow tailed. and is it normal for fish to be fighting...
You need to do research. Fish fight to establish or defend their territory or male fish fight over the right to mate with females. Damselfish are a very aggressive species. Putting many of them into a small tank is just asking for trouble. Also, YouTube is not the place to go if you want expert advice on keeping an aquarium. You are better off getting books from the library or bookstore on this topic. Research!
if you have a reef tank guys... dont forget to test phosphate levels in your aquarium... if you use ro water you should have near enuff 0 phosphates but ro membrane's do degrade in time. and if the ro unit is left for a long period of time bacteria can attract the membrane and render it useless.
2 ways to avoid this 1 flush the ro unit aleast 20mins every week.. or! store the ro membrane in the fridge
no you dont, you'll be fine if you only have a protein skimmer, sand and live rock. but just make sure the protein skimmer is big enough that it turns over about 2 times every hour
thank you soooooo much, i wasnt told that i needed an anominia kit to test the water, so my domino damsel died, my yelowtailed damsel is still alive, but my domino damsel was a crem color dead on the bottom on the tank, he looked normal, just majorley discolored, you sound like an expert, so do you think my tank wasnt cycled?? please write back!
p.s your tank is awesome!! i love your lavender tang, there sooo pretty!

Bye the way your aquarium is nice and beautiful.
Regarding White spot on fish…what I know it’s coming from temperature and also when the fish will scare. Is that right??!!
