  • Amazing review, tnx !!

  • davie, does this have an emergency alarm? if one of my team need help is there a button for this?

  • Hi again Nick,

Yes my friend, the radio has an emergency SOS, that is activated from a single press of a button

  • Heyy again, I forgot! Does this have an emergency feature? And is there anyway youtube let's me message someone? X_X

  • LAWL. Thanks dude your a fuc*king star, I'll order them monday or tuesday, thanks again dude

  • Okies, thanks matey, I'm in charge of a team of 9, so I can get 9 and I can use them all to talk to each other yeah? I'm only 19 I'm just getting used to these radios, I used to own mitexs, but I need an upgrade, so 9 will work with 9 of the same models yes? And so when I get them I'll ask again what to do, thanks !! :D

  • Your very welcome Nick, i will say, make sure you invest in at least one programing cable, you can download the programing software direct, from the Wouxun website.

You can then clone all the radios very easy. I am sure you will be as pleased as i am with mine.

  • The license allows me to use 420-470MHz with an output power upto 5Watts so like you said, just use the radio on the ones the license allows, and also, if I buy two three or four, will they be able to talk to each other? Because I'm not going to buy them, and they can't transmit and receive the same radio on the same frequency thanks again :)

  • Heya Nick,

Yes they sure do indeed,no problem what so ever, i own 3 myself.

They also have a feature called CTCSS so you can secure the channel to private use,for example: if you use CTCSS code 67 all radios need to be on code 67,you can also use 2 channels at the same time "DUAL BAND" IE: 420.000 MHz CTCSS 67 for transmit & 435:000 CTCSS code 118.8 for receive. This prevents other radio user's interrupting/intercepting communication.

please feel free to ask any further questions

  • Late message, :L I got a business radio light license from ofcom, that should alright for the KG-UVD1P shouldn't it? I'm a security guard so I need communications with my team, thanks dude, Nick.

  • Hi Nick Yes my friend, it will make a stunning radio for security & your license will cover you from Ofcom. Just insure that you do not transmit outside of the allocated frequency that your license allows, IE: Amateur bands "Radio Ham". Saying that, you will be able to use PMR free Bands PMR Frequencies Channel Frequency in MHz Ch1 446.00625 Ch2 446.01875 Ch3 446.03125 Ch4 446.04375 Ch5 446.05625 Ch6 446.06875 Ch7 446.08125 Ch8 446.09375
  • Hi Dave,

Could you please share with me the whole Model information of the device? Because as I am searching it from 409shop.com I couldn't find a device covering between 118mhz to 500 mhz?

    thank you

  • Hi arcan999,

All the radios come as standard programmed Frequency Range: 136-174MHz & 400-470MHz.

I used a little program called 1KG-xxx-unlock to weideband mine, please make sure you go no lower than 118mHz right upto 500mHz, if you google 1KG-xxx-unlock i am sure that you will find it, you also need the USB cable to be able to program it.

Hope this helps, Kind Regards: Dave

  • @Daveicom706

    Hi Dave,

Thank you for your response. I will google it after I buy the device.

    Take care ;)

    Arcan

  • @arcan999

    Hi arcan999,

I have tried the unlocker with my Wouxun but even though it can be unlocked to a very small frequency, but you actually cannot transmit even though the transmit led lights up.

You can try it with 2 walkie talkie or 2 Wouxun with the same unlocked frequency.

I tried mine and it didnt transmit below 122mhz or something.

Plus... its a FM radio so no airband and you can listen to airband.

I asked Wouxun and i tried... its dangerous...

  • @jwkong

    Hello Jwkong,

The airband information was so useful to me. Because I want to unlock it to listen airband but unfortunately it will not help as I understood. thank you for the info :)

  • @arcan999

    hey..

    no problem mate.

i've been trying around and thinking what can this radio do but it doesnt matter as long as it fulfill its primary duty.. fm receiver.

    hahaha...

if you need airband i heard yaesu radio have a 4 band or 3 band radio which includes am receiver.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

    Cheers mate.

    =)

  • Hi Dave, Yeah. Kinda strict here but that cant stop me... hahaha Thanks for the regards. This is surely a good radio for the price. If you can go to China i think you can buy it even cheaper. I got mine by a China friend. It cost me around RMB500 which is about 50 pound for a new set. hehehe.... I wish the same for you and your family too. =) Have a good day mate. 73 and Happy DX-ing.
  • Nice but here in Malaysia the regulations are too strict.

446 PMR can only be used in 0.5watt mode and carrying such big toys will be confiscated by police if you dont have a ham license.

And even if you have a ham license you cant actually transmit in 446mhz..

    hahaha.....

  • Hi jwkong,

Many thanks for your kind post / message, sorry to hear that your only allowed to use 0.5 Watt's on PMR bands, here in the UK the band is very very active and used by many people.

I am an active licenced Radio Ham (M3DRC) and also do alot of work on 142Mhz SSTV.

Kind Regards to you and your family, 51's & 73's and good DX'ing

  • Hi Dave,

Greetings from across the pond from W9ASS here outside Chicago- Love the video, I bought mine for 60$ USD for just the radio and desk charger from a friend, the video you posted more or less let me live vicariously through your vid and pretend I was opening it with all the goodies :)

    73 and Good DX!

  • Hi there RubicantX (W9ASS)

Am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the video, hope your getting on well with your new radio & enjoy it as much as i do mine, i have managed now to work (AO51) & also the (ISS) with stunning audio reports just using the handheld and standard antenna.

Kind Regards: Dave (M3DRC) 51's & 73's to you and yours, good DX also i hope

  • Is "Dell" one of your local 446 users? I spoke to him once on an offroad road, heard him chatting on ch8

  • @thazlett144 Sure is my Friend, very active also on CH8

  • @Daveicom706 Wish my area had an active 446:( just ch19 on the cb here.... very interested in the 446 band. Got the baofeng u3v4 myself, and a 5w FDA450...

  • Good stuff! I must have one of these before visiting London/Bristol soon from US.

  • i've got a ct790 too, wouxun hand-held radio by Midland, very nice radio

  • BlackAdder719 hi there.

As soon as i got mine i did the audio MOD as found it to be a little quiet as standard. It is very easy and simple to do, open the radio up and on the right hand side of the pcb are 2 varable pots, adjust the 2nd pot down, if you google it am sure you will see how to do it, i also unlocked/widebanded mine to cover from 120 right upto 599.

Wish you all the very best for now, Kind Regards: Dave 73's

  • Hi, looks really good - I can't seem to find them with all the accessories as cheaply as you did, would you mind sharing where you purchased them please?

  • Ebay for £65 now

And yes the channels can be program locked so the users cant change the channel and can also use CTCSS tones for private coms

  • I have the Midland ct790 (It's is exact the same)

Good Radio, exept fm radio... The steps are to big

  • these are awful radios just same as those rubbish puxing px radios your better of getting mt6000e or mts2000 flashport radio

  • Good little radio, works well . I would buy another one anytime.

  • Nice review!! I got me one of these on the way also, I already have a nice handy but this is one I can keep in the car and not worry too much about as its so cheap, they get pretty good reviews on line and at the price nothing comes near them, I got mine more or less the same as you for 65 quid! abso bargain, they also ship it as a gift which helps. Are you a licensed op then? I see you are using the PMR bands?
