Spirit of RIS 2010

Masha Allah seeing this brings tears to my eyes.I have been going toRIS for years and it only gets better.It truly revives my spirit and recharges my batteries. It worms my heart and feeds my brain. It is an amazing example of pure Islam in action. My dua is for it to continue and expand,and may Allah swa shower his guidance ,mercy and blessings on all creation.

Saying we're Muslim isn't being Muslim. Being Muslim is a synonym to kindness, compassion, tolerance, charity, generosity, patience, love. In"reviving Islam", we must work on improving our relationships with non-Muslims. We must invite Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians and Hindus to speak also. The prophet, pbuh, would invite all people to an event like this, knowing the goodness in our hearts is about our relationship with God not the religions we practice. May Peace be with all creation.

Who does the organizing for this event? Does anyone know? I know a lot of the volunteers are youth high school and university students.mashaAllah But Like what about the Exec and other positions that lead the organization and direct it?

@dadalawi I believe the intentions here were to get people hyped up about RIS. It seems like a cheap way but very effective. Think about it, when you watch a trailer for a movie. All the music and some great scene shots get you hyped about the movie. And than you actually go waste your money to watch the movie. Well same concept here, but you only gain a lot of beautiful knowledge in return.

the sister at the beginning is not wearing proper Hijab, they are mixing sisters and brothers all the time, there is a Sufi speaking (Hamza Yusuf), why would i want to listen to a Sufi??? whats next? an Ahmadi speaking ??? you guys think that a guy singing a nasheed with music is the way the revive the Islamic spirit ??? this is so messed up, but it gets worse because is the most famous "Islamic" conference in Canada !

@sm4ks2006 There is not absolute definition of Hijab. Mixed gatherings are not haram. Infact protocols of decency in mixed occasion are actually required, Quran (24:27-31). If you feel someone is mislead than convey your observation politely. Take lesson from the life of Prophet(saw). The people attending this conference are united by common belief in one God and the finality of Prophet-hood in Muhammad (SAW) which seems blessing in materialistic West. Leave differing opinion for other ocasion

All im gonna say was it was AMAZING!!!! The speakers on sunday killed it !!! it seriously revived me like never before. The power u feel with so many muslims and speeches cant be explained unless u were there. Too bad whoever never made it today , missed out totally. We muslims need a political voice in support of Islamic ideals and theological practice. Though RIS is an amazing event. I think it should engage itself in political discussion. Remember. Us muslims in North America have a responsibility for muslims around the world. And troubles in the muslim world originate from the place we live in. We can call ourselves muslims forever. But can we live as muslims forever without securing our future? Our children?
