In my true humble opinion, I would say playing the air guitar effectively is far more difficult than playing a real guitar. With the real guitar, you already have the instrument in front of you. Air guitar playing requires the performer to create it themselves, harder than any stupid guitar solo you can think of.

I'll say it: I'd rather see the Air Guitar champion in concert than any famous guitar player, alive or dead. Stevie Ray Vaughn? No thanks. Yngwie Malmsteen? Nah. Boring.
