I always thought that if WTR toned down his Ali-like Rhetoric when he came to IndyCar, he could have found a decent ride and became successful, B/C he was talented. That ego-driven madness definitely worked for Ali in boxing, but it doesn't usually work in motorsports, especially in a international sport like American Open-Wheel Racing.
Used to know the Ribbs clan in San Jose, which is my home town. Wayne Akers is another Black Driver that did the Trans Am series, I believe he won maybe once or twice. I think Willie is has 10 or so victories in Trans Am and a few in IMSA GTO competition with Toyota/Dan Gurney who meet Willie when he was a kid.

Willy T. Ribbs went to IndyCar or then known as the CART PPG IndyCar Series in the 90's what he did was the Sports Car/Open Wheel Shuffle.
But now the Open Wheel Guys goes to Sports Cars now and its known to me as the Open Wheel/Sports Car Shuffle.
