The sax is a cheap import. Basically junk, but it plays. I'm using a Meyer 7-M mouthpiece. I never use reeds straight out of the box, so telling you what strength reed I use would be impossible. I always start with a reed a good bit harder than I can play comfortably, then custom file it until I have it the way I want it. When you rework your own reeds that way the brand isn't as important, as long as it's good quality cane with fairly even grain.

Wow, really? That's great to know. I have a dukoff mouthpiece, but it doesn't give me the nice 'smooth jazz' tone that I want. I'm gonna look into working my reeds because I think your sound is great. Thanks for the info. Much Appreciated.
