Thank you!! I absolutely love the ruan, especially da ruan, the sound is so Dunhuang. I have never been to the Silk Road and the caves, but I can immagine each time I hear this instrument.

Oh I don't speak Chinese so I didn't know what you meant.But there is a Chinese instruments called the la ruan.

yes, "da" is 大 in chinese, means big or large, "ruan" is 阮 in chinese.
the video is zhong ruan, "zhong" means middle.
