  • had this album when I was young, All the songs were great!!! classy lady!

  • luv it :)

  • Man this version is sooo boring... I have to suffer through this a few times a day at work thanks to it being on our PA music and every time I hear it, all I can think about is Jackie Wilson's classic version and wanting to hear it instead! I'm sorry but this is one of the lamest cover versions I've ever heard, regardless if Rita came up with the idea and style for the song.

  • Jackie's version makes me wanna dance. Rita's version makes my heart sing. Both are incredible.

  • Great video clips and sound. Great job...Desires for the perfect sounds of the past have been thoroughly satisfied. Thanks for posting and quenching my desire. Her voice is beautiful....

  • ...children--plzzzz. This IS a great cover...superb!

  • Well all this contradiction in hear dosent stop me to like whati like.i can say she is awesome, voice song and her beauty.all in one.ty much JIMMY for grate sher and beautiful song....tumbs up and fav...your love............................,love it.

  • why the hell change the tempo !!! the original song by Jackie Wilson was fine the way it was !!! even Cas Haley sang it better than this ....

  • @yazanable1 Jackie Wilson's original is great and I love that too, but who can argue with that funkin' bass line, and those vocals! and forget that garbage reggae sounding version

  • @nosawrembo that reaggae garbage was nominated by YOU !! Americans to be one of the most talented people in the Continent hmmmm

anyway i think you either sing the song the way it is or just make up your own style dont bring classic crap to an amazing song like this one ,..... thats my opinion

  • @yazanable1 Not this American..and what about this would you call "classic crap"? She did make up her own style for the song.

  • i haven't heard this in decades!! reminds me of being a young boy in san diego, and listening to my mom singing along to this at home, in the car, where ever. rita coolidge has a sweet, comforting voice! and a very beautiful lady as well!!

  • 4 people are afraid of heights.

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's timeless and simply beautiful.

  • Great song, so much better than Jackie Wilson's version and Rita sure made this song sound her own, one of the rare cover versions where it exceeds the original!

  • for some reason the bass playing almost reminds me of Ace's "How Long"

  • she went to florida state also.

  • Wow...as fresh, beautiful , and invigorating as it was when it was first released, and what a soothing and strong voice she has ! Whenever I hear this when I'm driving I have to try not to go ''faster and faster'' just because it flows with such a rush

  • TO MY GOOSE FOREVER......................

  • the bass riff kicks ass

  • Just think, Kris Kristofferson used to be able to wake up and roll over and there was Rita, all snuggled up next to him...what a lucky bastard!!! This song kicks ass!

  • nice bass and main guitar.

  • wow love it babe

  • Rita hit #2 in Billboard, 9-10-77. God bless ya, sister Rita. Thanx for postin' it.

  • S-E-X-Y

  • Great dance tune! I actually remember this tune, and I'm 42 years old. I heard it in a bowling alley bar of all places!!

  • Love this song!

  • Stunning lady, terrific song, and a great voice.

  • @n8tureboy ~ I agree!!

  • BIG "LIKE" ( :

  • Sing it, Delta Lady. Great song. One of the few covers I actually prefer over the original.

  • she also went to fsu.

  • great song, heard it at least 1000 times

  • wow didnt know she is only 4 yrs older than me..she sang this song a the Edmonton Colisseum in Aug of '78..she opened for Kenny Rogers..1st time seeing her..awesome..guess she must have been 30 then

  • This is a wonderful version. I love Rita Coolidge's voice. It sounds so unlike the Jackie Wilson's version that it doesn't even sound like the same song.

  • great tune made greater by a her sultry voice .. brilliant!!

  • Damm! I thought Rita was a black chick.

  • This is one of my favorite songs to sing on Karaoke. This woman has such natural beauty - looks and chords. Today's "artists" (and I use that term loosely) should learn something from her and her music. P.S. is 1:37 a real raccoon???

  • @cptmrgn318 Yes, it was her pet.

  • @cptmrgn318 no that was her apperance on the muppet show, in which she performed this song . just so you kow

  • I love this version of the song much better than the 60's version...Rita simply gave this song pop perfection!

  • tlover1062. Originaly Booker T was gonna keep this for himself, cause he had not had a hit song for several years. When Herb Alpbert, then Pres od A&M records, heard the song, sugesteed that it needed vocals, He sent over a singer who he'd just signed a few months earlyer. Bokker T was then asked to produce the LP for this Singer. Rita did the vocals over the music Booker T had done, and as they say, The Rest Is History. Based on Casey Kasem American Top 40.

  • GREAT!!. One of my favorite. Can you say "CLASSIC"

  • What a brilliant song. I play this quite often on our local Community Radio Station

    The mudman

  • This song was in the top 10 in the world charts in 1977

  • She is the best !

  • Perfect lyrics...lovely voice :) Thank you for sharing!

  • Wow, this is such an awesome song/video of a very good singer who may not get enough creddit for her immense talent.

  • Great bass riff. Great singer. Great song.

  • @RicPhlare I want to learn this on bass.

  • This song has always reminded of someone very special in my life.

  • She did an excellent cover of this Jackie Wilson hit. Booker T. (of the MG's) can be heard on the organ. Thanks for the post.

  • Should be a gospel song. Praise the Lord for lifting me higher.

  • very nice song. i enjoy listening to it!

  • As good today as it was when I was growing up! The words say it all for my special someone!
