When I first got gmod it work for 2 years then problem came when I start gmod it loads normaly then I thought it go to the main menu but it loaded a map I let it load then it says HL2.EXE has stop working now when I want to play gmod I have to click on cancel till it takes me to the menu so I can play also when I start playing I can only play for 30 mins anyone please help

I have gmod which I inastalled on my new computer like 2 days ago. I was able to play all fine, until minutes ago when i was about to launch it, it started as normal, and i could see the gmod background and the text saying loading. But then it just shuts down, and I must use ctrl+alt+delet. And then it comes up a box that says hl.exe isn't answering. HELP ANYONE!!! Thanks1

same thing happened to me,

Right-click Garry's Mod, then click properties. Hit the "set launch options" button and set this:

-dxlevel 81

This will force your graphics card into Direct X 8.1 mode - you won't get some graphical fancies such as HDR and bloom, but it's worth it.

Install Steam

Open Steam

Buy GMod from the Steam store

Install GMod (You must also have another Valve game, such as hl2 or counter-strike or tf2)

Go to the "My Games" tab

Open the game
