@eddierjackson WOW! well good luck to him. i hope he goes pro in track or football because talent like this is far too often wasted. but i can tell he has a bright future.
@2hworm now a freshman at Univ of Alabama playing DB. He was recruited as a WR and switched positions midway thru this season. He red shirted, still 4 yrs of elig.
@MrChucboo He should do track. He's the type of kid who has a chance at beating the jamaicans in the future. Football doesn't allow him to fully utilize his god given top end speed.
What does he want to do as a professional, if all things work out, Track or Football? I would imagine if and when that time comes, NFL will be big money, and so he will choose that. This is what the jamaicans don't realize, the USA loses alot of very fast sprinters to the other major sports...NFL, NBA, baseball.
True...But still in Jamaica 19 yr olds running 100 meters under 10 secs is normal...In america thats just unreal and freakish, but its normal...Seriously...Everybody knows that Samoans are naturally the strongest people on earth Jamaicans are naturally the fastest people on earth. Sadly I'm not part of either of those cultures so my opinion is not biased. Seriously: Chris Johnson can't keep up with the 4th fastest Jamaican who is only 21 yrs old.
Running sub 10 is not normal for anyone in the world. There are only 80 men in history to run sub 10, only one yohan blake, did it at 19yrs of age. More relevant is the fact that in total 7 out of 11 jamaicans have run sub 10 in the last 3-4 yrs for the first time. Before that Asafa did it in 2004 for the first time. Something is fishy about these numbers, esp with Bolt and Blake beating MJ's 200m record. Lightning usually doesn't strike twice in the same spot within 4 yrs.
@TheAngeltoDemon ...Thats a good point that I never thought of,but the anti-doping agency would have gotten at least one of them by now. I understand the suspicion, but when I see little, skinny, Jamaicans that are in high school come and race those kids are just plain fast. No way someone that skinny is on steriods. I think Bolt is natural...Asafa is kinda sketchy because he use to be really skinny, but now he is buff like a NFL Safety or Line Backer.
Well, remember, Marion Jones and the Balco guys NEVER would have got caught, they only got caught cause the testing agencies recieved a sample of the drug THG. Jamaicans are definitely fast, but based on their numbers they should not be this dominant across the board. Their not the only nation with fast athletes. Bolt might be natural, MIGHT, but even he hasn't been nearly as good as he was in 2009, when he was only 22 or so. He should be getting faster not slower.Iagreeon asafa
@TheAngeltoDemon That is a really good point about Bolt. I thought it was kinda weird that he kept getting slower and slower.. He ran a 9.9 something months ago and he was struggling.. But eventually if is is doping it will come to the light. For the integrity of the sport and kids that look up to him I hope he is clean. The last thing we need is another Barry Bonds/Marion Jones situation.
@pr00klyn I agree, the sport would be killed if it came to light that he was doping. When Bolt first hit the scene, he was just crushing the sprints. He was actually the fastest/strongest looking in 2008 in the olympics IMO. He did look good in the Daegu 200. He's a tricky case, but yeah, glad you noticed it, he went from superman to human. I could see him losing in Beijing in the 100, not the 200 though despite blake's time. I hope they're clean, jeter is another one, she is jacked up!
@pr00klyn You are highly mistaken, jamaicans being fast is a recent phenomena and i assure you their 19yr olds do NOT run sub 10. Samoans are i believe the best suited towards football rugby, but there just aren't too many polynesians in the world relative to other race. Chris Johnson couldn't keep up with Bradley Silve, forget about any pro track guy. If not for football, the US would produce sprinters just as fast and many more sprinters.
Really wants to play pro football. Will not run track this year even though he qualified for the Olympic Trials. Wants to try to solidify and starting position in football at Alabama.
@eddierjackson Good luck to him, i also love football and understand his feelings. Alabama has a great track program too which is a bonus. Hope he makes the NFL, it's just with his speed and size, he's ready to go pro track now, but it's a tough decision, it really has to be one or the other.
lool its a +3.9 illegal wind. still... i'd be pretty chuffed if i ran that period! at best im only 11.09 lol
