@anticlimatic21 Me too.... on the original EV, I used ResEdit to create my own systems, planets/moons, ships, weapons and missions. Ahhh those were fun times lol. But I'm no longer a mac boy, now I'm a Windows boy.
This was such an epic game when I played it back in 2000 I think? Basicly the only game I had on my Macintosh Performa 5200 :D soooo nice memories, I wish we had internet then to crack the shareware version :( :P :D
so far my favorite ship is the polaris dragon. super upgraded the defenses and use the standard weapons. I have taken out every different ship I can find. the beam has a greater reach than the manticores and it's really easy to disable anything larger than the fighters without destroying them. add a couple of marine platoons and take over as many ships as possible to either keep and upgrade as escorts or sell for the credits. I like to hang out at the pirate base to just wipe them out for money.
@Yamamanama I prefer a Mod Starbridge and fit it with as many thunderhead lances as possible. It will eat through any ship in a matter of seconds... if you get close enough... Beam-armed Manticores can be tough with this setup though.
Ah EV:N. A great game, nice to see other people are actually playing it :P
As per the tip below, it's well worth the trip to Another system to find a higher price for the opals... they can sell REALLY well a few hops from fomahault. (Hint, try near the Archenar system NW of Sol)
@racer927 That takes too much time to be efficient. By the time you reach the place and gain your 150k, you could already load up and cash again for a total 96k x2 or 192k (approximate values)
Great game with nearly endless replay value. Being able to modify and add almost anything you want in the game is nice too.

The way to go: Starbridge with Auroran weaponry and various speed and defense upgrades.

buy an asteroid miner, travel to fomahault, mine opals (giant gold asteroids) and sell them on the planet gem
laharl69cirno 1 year ago
Ah cool I always wondered what the best way to use the Asteroid Miner was.

@adh005 You should actually travel to the Horizon system with the Opals; much higher price!
misterwishart 3 months ago
@laharl69cirno Or even better sell the opals at Serenity (Lotus)
