  • So glad that piece of shit Ulf Samuelson was the major contributor to the Pens losing this game. First a giveaway for a goal and then being caught deep in the offensive zone for the O.T winner.

  • Always great to hear Dick Irvin's voice. "Quite a rec-cord!"

  • If the Pens would have won this game I don't think Montreal would have won the Stanley Cup

  • what if the games went to ot? lol

  • Cuthbert and Irvin should call all televised CBC games

  • bob cole and harry neale!

  • GREAT VIDEO! THANKS

  • This was easily one of the best five games played within the past 20 years. This was the first game that comes to mind when you think of a scrappy team with a good goaltender beating the top teams out there, kind of like when Cujo was in Edmonton, or Giguere's run in Anaheim and Kipper in Calgary.

  • Chris Cuthbert and Dick Irvin, great announcing crew!

  • my favorite memory

  • Yeah Healy definitely outplayed Barrasso, and the Penguins just did not have any respect for the Islanders. I will always remember the name David Volek. Penguins were an awesome team that year, maybe one of the best ever. I watched this game and it really hurt the Pens franchise. Glad to see the Pens close to the top again, but I think Sydney Crosby and his teamates should all watch this game together so this doesnt happen again ever. Michel Therien should make them all watch this.

  • i loved this ga

  • Great clips. Healy flat out outplayed Barrasso... not more complicated than that. I'll never understand why the Islanders let him walk that offseason. Ripped the heart and soul out of that team. The first of many bone-headed decisions to come from the Islander Front Office for the next 10+ years...

  • Just like the first comment on this, it brings back a GREAT memory from high school when the underdog Islanders beat the defending Stanely Cup Champions.

I'm watching this video as part of the mourning process from watching the NY Mets complete their historic collapse in 2007, missing the playoffs and letting Philly win the division.

From hearing the names like Healy, Thomas, and Hogue to watching the winning OT goal, it's getting me excited for the Opening Night Friday against the Bruins.

  • Just wondering.. Did Turgeon recover in time after the Dale Hunter hit to play in the next series against the Canadiens?

  • This is great stuff, brings back a-lot of good memories. Felt bad for Stevens, but he had no business challenging Rich Pilon like that, if I remember correctly, Steven's had his jaw broken on that play and had to have his jaw wired shut.

  • ..and Steven's wasn't the same player after that hit. The next year he posted 41 goals, 80+ points..a far cry of his 50+, 111 points from the previous season. After that season, he fell of the face of the planet and never regained his form.

  • Haha! Broken jaw? He should have been so lucky!

He broke his entire fucking face when he hit the ice. He had to have extensive reconstructive surgery. Surgeons peeled his face off down to his neck in order to piece the bones together.

I remember watching that back in '93. What a crazy game that was.
