For some reason when i saw him arrive in the the hotel lobby in the trenchcoat, i saw spike from cowboy bebop entering the hotel to take down viscious. So many references in this anime, i dont know if im just spotting red herrings that dont exist but also have has anyone else noticed that harry mcdougle villian from outlaw star and harry mcdowell from this look very similar as well as sharing a very close name

A long time after seeing this excellent series I heard a Japanese song (don’t recall which) and caught the word ‘aniki’ (big brother). I almost wept when the sudden flood of emotions I had during the series came in upon me without warning. Incredible.

I like how they sort of have a reference to Bunji’s graveyard move from the game in this fight. This, along with the big shoot–out with Blood War, is my favourite gunfight sequence in the animé. Oh, and the one with Brandon Heat’s guns and roses!

I love how Bob, Lee and Bear change there like entire appearance to make themselves look more monster like and ferocious yet Bunji just gets adaptions to his body to make him as powerful as grave or the same adaptions as grave definitely the coolest, most honorable, and strongest of the the council of 4

Basically they were part of the same crime organization and humans originally. Grave was really good friends with Bunji, kinda like teacher-student or brothers. Grave is killed by best friend cause he was gonna stop a coup. Bunji followed Grave's best friend's idea.

Grave comes back as undead, Bunji tries to stop vengeance plan and have one final duel between "brothers." Bunji, by now has used a drug called SEED to give himself powers to fight. He losses and fades

People who played the game LOVED this fight, because the entire thing was reference to the Bunji boss fight from Gungrave 1.

Meeting Grave a the bottom of Millenium Tower, using the same style, both being enhanced humans, and even Bunji's regneration and running kick thing are all kickass references.

No in the beginning of the fight he shoots the red gun first by itself meaning the white would have one more bullet. I'd never thought about the reloads or amount of bullets in this fight.

He shows up in both games. There's a cutscene involving the Gungrave: Overdose character named Juji in which Bunji claims he can finally "go to Hell." after Juji "kills" him. Whether or not he lived beyond that point is up for speculation, but it is the chronologically the last time Bunji's death is implied, to my knowledge.

The way I viewed the fights end was that Bunji and Grave had been having a nostalgia filled gun fight, however when Bunji realized that Brandons body was giving out he knew he would become serious, hence the change in the tone of the fight. Heck the main reason I think he became "invincible" was because he couldn't accept not being on the same level as Brandon

This anime has one of the best endings. The one and only thing I really didn't like is that Brandon and Maria didn't end up doing anything at all. Not even a kiss.

I think that that was the true tragedy that was meant to be displayed. Brandon and Maria are something like star-crossed lovers... Brandon's honor and his unending devotion to Millenion is off-set by his strong feelings to those who have been closest to him, yet he will not cross the line with Maria for the sake of protecting her, only to have her pursue him into the life of crime, where she is then protected and loved by Big Daddy, Brandon's father figure.

very sad.. the whole series is wonderfully written. The ending is one of the most heartbreaking endings i've seen in any anime. Bunji was a great character as well! After watching this again.. i think that Bunji simply wanted to die..

Initially as I remmeber, Bunji used a special, Deadman-paralyzing round during the previous fight he'd had with Brandon earlier on Brandon's shoulder and arm that somehow destroyed his genetic makeup. Tokiyoka, the scientist who revived Brandon, could only restore someye percent of Bradnon's body, the paralysis effects eventually rode away into skin cracking and loss of limbs. Tongue-in-the-cheek way of weakening Grave.
