Chinese Olympians are jokes to the realm of professional athletes. They may be good but they have no "soul." There coaches and country push them to the limit and beyond for the simple purpose of creating the illusion that their country is awesome (which it isn't). Once they are done performing they are trashed as their purpose is complete. At least in civilized countries athletes do it for themselves and their country because they want to.

Yeah, the only reason the Chinese were able to do that is because the FIG changed the scoring system, which emphasizes difficulty over artistry (which is what artisitic gym. is about). And actually that only happened in 2006 onward. Tomita won the all-around and Mizutori the silver 2005 (and there wasn't a team final during that WC).
And, now that Yang Wei and most of the "veteran" Chinese gymnasts have retired, Kohei Uchimura is pretty much the best in the world right now.
You better check your facts there, the Japanese only won twice in team final since 1980s which are 1988 and 2004 olympics. And your reason why chinese won is just pathetic. Every team should adapt to the rules, but not whining other teams victories because of that.
And yes, after Yang Wei's retirement, nobody in chinese men's team can beat Tomita or whoever his name is in ALL-AROUND in a very short time and this is the only apparatus that the Japanese are better than the Chinese. Chinese are pretty much still dominated in all other apparatuses except vault.
2009 world championship's result proves that: With Chen Yibing be out of the rings final, China still took the gold. China took the gold and the silver in PB final. Zou Kai took the gold in HB final and no Japanese, at the moment, can challenge his position. He also took the silver by losing to the gold winner by only 0.025. Tomita only take fourth.
Do you even follow gymnastics? First off, Tomita is retired (after 2008). Kohei Uchimura (from Japan) won the all-around. 2010 WC will prove who is better when the TF is contested again.
I started follow gymnastics since 08 really, but I have done my homework so I know chinese men's team had done great and had been better than Japanese for so long. I did say tomita or whoever his name was, didn't I? Yes, let's see what is gonna happen in 2010!!
Although Yang Wei, Li Xiaopeng and Huang Xu retired, the Chinese are now still BETTER than the Japanese overall. We just need more all-around gymansts like Yang Wei and Li Xiaopeng. And don't forget China beat Japan by 8 points in 08 team final. That is far-ahead.

You want to really sum it up? Probablly the two greatest gymnastic powers ever have been the former Soviet Union and Japan. I don't think China has won 4 consecutive team and 3 consecutive all-around finals. The subject we debate on is which one is better between China and Japan, not who is the best in the world. So everytime they met each other counts including the asian games.

He told those chinese gymnasts that next time you guys met Japan you had to win. If you can't win Japan, don't even talk about getting back to the top. FIG changed the rule cos in athen 04, judges personal favour affected who was gonna win too much. Why do you think there are A score and B score? And if you are REALLY good, you shouldn't have a very low A score which can be made up by your B score. And according to my info which were gathered from chinese gymnastics commitee, chinese had done better at least after 00, I couldn't find info before that period tho. Well, let me put it this way. They won because of this: 75% difficulty, 25% artistry; there is no way you can compare Japanese artistry with Chinese artistry. The Chinese may have some artistry but the Japanese are one of the few countries left that actually FOCUS on artistry. And I apologize for brining irrelavant information into this conversation.
Apology accepted and let me put it this way: You might say Zou Kai's HB routine in 08 olympics is more difficulty based. But Xiao Qin, Chen Yibing and Li Xiaopeng are all top-notch from artistic point of view. They are the best not only becos the highest difficulty in the world but also becos they have the best form.

American medias can't even get the names of gymnastics correctly. During the NBC olympic live, they called Deng linlin as Yang Yelin. In CNN video dated on August 21, they called Li ShangShang as Yang yelin. I've seen many other mistakes in American medias. If you want to compare asian gymnastics, take a look at the Ivana Hong, the alternate Gymnastic on American team. also, Japanese team?? There are still a lot for Americans to learn. That's just typical American behavior when they lose.
There is no doubt that China is the best team in the world. Their gymnastics has difficulty, perfect form, and pure beauty. Japan and Russia are two other teams that can be considered "artistic" gymnastics.

If anyone go to NBC website and watch the complete videos from WAG podium training & competition, you can even see that the chinese sign-bearers for those teams are shorter or younger looking than some of those gymnasts. Those girls are college students(in their 20's). And if you look at the Japanese team, some of them look even younger than Yang Yilin and other two chinese gymnasts whose age are under scruiny. But do we hear any complaints? NO! why?because they pose no threats to gold.

I meant now...I'm sure she didn't look like that then. And black people don't all have round faces and still look young. Those girls are definitely underage though, or at least half.(Not the team captain, I hear she was actually 18 though, not 20) If you even search those girls ages, it comes up debatable, and that Deng Linlin comes up as 16(which is obviously false) or 13-14 which sounds more reasonable. I think this discussion of aging comes back to the same thing as "They all look the same." Asians differ from other Asians in different ways than Blacks differ from other Blacks or than Caucasians differ from other Caucasians. Therefore, to a person who is used to only one 'race', members of other 'races' can be hard to tell apart.
Similarly, different races age differently, and the marks of age which you would subconsciously look out for in your race may not occur in theirs. They do show signs of aging, but they're not the signs you're expecting, so you don't notice them.
Chinese gymnastic team is great, not because Asian, etc. That's all. For example, Blacks are athletic without question, but why can't you see them in gymnastics. Racism? No, they don't work out so hard like Asian. I'm sure if Blacks focus on gymnastics, black players will stand on the top some day.
It is hard to agree with you. China and Japan are famous for their precise execution and endeavor to make breakthroughs. I not sure who pay for gymnastic training in Japan, but Chinese government provides supports to coaches and athletes to excel. Most African American families don't the financial ability to send their kids to do gymnastics. That's why they play basketball in inner cities. It is a sad thing that we can't see them in the gym.

Steroids don't help gymnasts. If you had any meaningful gymnastics experience, you would understand that.
First, steroids often cause bulkiness, which directly contravenes the high muscle-to-weight ratio needed as gymnast. Second, steroids often cause joint problems, which would also be compounded and detrimental to these gymnasts' health. Most importantly, steroids would not help with the majority of men's gymnastics because (besides rings) it's not about strength; it's about technique.

lets see, when I study video editing and making Motion Pictures "note it says MOTION PICTURE" that means a bunch of still pictures put together in such a manor then moving them faster then the Human EYE can see makes these pictures look like MOTION.. hmmm so lets see all movies, all videos are just a bunch of pictures moving so fast your LAME eye thinks they are in motion... hmm so slide show or video all the same get over it people.. crying over such things means YOU have way 2 much free time

Yeah, the only reason the Chinese were able to do that is because the FIG changed the scoring system, which emphasizes difficulty over artistry (which is what artisitic gym. is about). And actually that only happened in 2006 onward. Tomita won the all-around and Mizutori the silver 2005 (and there wasn't a team final during that WC).
And, now that Yang Wei and most of the "veteran" Chinese gymnasts have retired, Kohei Uchimura is pretty much the best in the world right now.

You better check your facts there, the Japanese only won twice in team final since 1980s which are 1988 and 2004 olympics. And your reason why chinese won is just pathetic. Every team should adapt to the rules, but not whining other teams victories because of that.

And yes, after Yang Wei's retirement, nobody in chinese men's team can beat Tomita or whoever his name is in ALL-AROUND in a very short time and this is the only apparatus that the Japanese are better than the Chinese. Chinese are pretty much still dominated in all other apparatuses except vault.

2009 world championship's result proves that: With Chen Yibing be out of the rings final, China still took the gold. China took the gold and the silver in PB final. Zou Kai took the gold in HB final and no Japanese, at the moment, can challenge his position. He also took the silver by losing to the gold winner by only 0.025. Tomita only take fourth.

Although Yang Wei, Li Xiaopeng and Huang Xu retired, the Chinese are now still BETTER than the Japanese overall. We just need more all-around gymansts like Yang Wei and Li Xiaopeng. And don't forget China beat Japan by 8 points in 08 team final. That is far-ahead.
So to sum up,
In the old code system, China only lost twice and China is still better!

You want to really sum it up? Probablly the two greatest gymnastic powers ever have been the former Soviet Union and Japan. I don't think China has won 4 consecutive team and 3 consecutive all-around finals. China didn't even come onto the scene until 1984 and still didn't eve win a team final until 1996 and an all-around until 2000! And lost both in 2004!
So your theory about "China losing twice in the old system" is without merit; more like won twice.

The subject we debate on is which one is better between China and Japan, not who is the best in the world. So everytime they met each other counts including the asian games.
Yang Wei said that in an interview in 2008, he was memorizing 2000 when they first got TF gold in Olympics and that is how they felt. Japan was not their biggest threat since they almost won everytime back then.

And I'll tell you something else. In the same interview, chinese head coach Huang Yubin said after the big lost in Athen 04. He told those chinese gymnasts that next time you guys met Japan you had to win. If you can't win Japan, don't even talk about getting back to the top. They respect Japanese but since 2000 the Japanese were never the biggest threat except 2004.

You, along with dozens of other people, aren't understanding what I and many others who respect "real gymnastics" are saying. Gymnastics today are about difficulty, not artistry. Why do you think the FIG is changing the scoring system AGAIN? To emphasize and preserve the artistic aspect. If the old scoring system still existed, then the Chinese wouldn't have won by that large margin and there's a chance that they might not've won at all.
The sport is called "artistic" gymnastics people.

FIG changed the rule cos in athen 04, judges personal favour affected who was gonna win too much. Why do you think there are A score and B score? And if you are REALLY good, you shouldn't have a very low A score which can be made up by your B score. And according to my info which were gathered from chinese gymnastics commitee, chinese had done better at least after 00, I couldn't find info before that period tho. But you, my friend, hadn't given any solid numbers.

Well, let me put it this way. They won because of this: 75% difficulty, 25% artistry; there is no way you can compare Japanese artistry with Chinese artistry. The Chinese may have some artistry but the Japanese are one of the few countries left that actually FOCUS on artistry. And I apologize for brining irrelavant information into this conversation.

I don't know whether they're gay or not, and nor do I see why anyone should care. The only sensible reason to care about another person's sexuality is if you fancy that person. And, while I do think Zou Kai is veerrry cute, I'm never likely to meet him, so what does it matter?

American medias can't even get the names of gymnastics correctly. During the NBC olympic live, they called Deng linlin as Yang Yelin. In CNN video dated on August 21, they called Li ShangShang as Yang yelin. I've seen many other mistakes in American medias. If you want to compare asian gymnastics, take a look at the Ivana Hong, the alternate Gymnastic on American team. also, Japanese team?? There are still a lot for Americans to learn. If anyone go to NBC website and watch the complete videos from WAG podium training & competition, you can even see that the chinese sign-bearers for those teams are shorter or younger looking than some of those gymnasts. Those girls are college students(in their 20's). And if you look at the Japanese team, some of them look even younger than Yang Yilin and other two chinese gymnasts whose age are under scruiny. But do we hear any complaints? NO! why?because they pose no threats to gold.

You're a moron. The US girls don't have anyone under 16 or who look like they are except Shawn Johnson who turned 16 in January. Nastia does not in any way look under 16 and neither does Alicia who is 20(? correct me if I'm wrong). She didn't have wrinkles when she was married. Actually, my grandmother looks exactly like the shortest girl on the Chinese gymnastic team. Babies have round faces and that's why these girls look so young. Most children's faces get longer and more defined as they get older, but many Asians have rounder faces. That's just how they are.

I meant now...I'm sure she didn't look like that then. And black people don't all have round faces and still look young. Those girls are definitely underage though, or at least half.(Not the team captain, I hear she was actually 18 though, not 20) If you even search those girls ages, it comes up debatable, and that Deng Linlin comes up as 16(which is obviously false) or 13-14 which sounds more reasonable. If I had to list races by aging it'd be black people, asians, any other race, white people.

Stereotypes don't come from nowhere. They always have some basis in fact, however tenuous.
I think this discussion of aging comes back to the same thing as "They all look the same." Asians differ from other Asians in different ways than Blacks differ from other Blacks or than Caucasians differ from other Caucasians. Therefore, to a person who is used to only one 'race', members of other 'races' can be hard to tell apart.

Similarly, different races age differently, and the marks of age which you would subconsciously look out for in your race may not occur in theirs. They do show signs of aging, but they're not the signs you're expecting, so you don't notice them.

Chinese gymnastic team is great, not because Asian, etc. That's all. For example, Blacks are athletic without question, but why can't you see them in gymnastics. Racism? No, they don't work out so hard like Asian. I'm sure if Blacks focus on gymnastics, black players will stand on the top some day.

It is hard to agree with you. China and Japan are famous for their precise execution and endeavor to make breakthroughs. I not sure who pay for gymnastic training in Japan, but Chinese government provides supports to coaches and athletes to excel. Most African American families don't the financial ability to send their kids to do gymnastics. That's why they play basketball in inner cities. It is a sad thing that we can't see them in the gym.

Steroids don't help gymnasts. If you had any meaningful gymnastics experience, you would understand that.
First, steroids often cause bulkiness, which directly contravenes the high muscle-to-weight ratio needed as gymnast. Second, steroids often cause joint problems, which would also be compounded and detrimental to these gymnasts' health. Most importantly, steroids would not help with the majority of men's gymnastics because (besides rings) it's not about strength; it's about technique.
