  • Ah placuit mihi!

  • kelloro estas tres bella :D

  • Mi deziras lerni pli de Esparanto.

  • LOL, I don't think any of them even got the jokes this dude was pulling lol. He was hitting on her hardcore and it was funny. Idiots didn't notice.

  • where do you get that passport thingy from?

  • tejo(.)org

  • Je rêve d'apprendre l' Esperanto ,,

Je suis sur que j'en aurais l'occasion un jour ..

  • ĉesu sonĝi, komenci lernado! Esperanto estas simpla kaj facila!

arrêter de rêver, commencer à apprendre. L'espéranto est simple et facile

  • @josieldeassis I don't want to formikofiki but 'lernado' should be 'lernadon'!

  • I love it when she says "but that's lazy, that's like one word" which is the entire point of the language.

  • Mi povas paroli Esperanton

  • damn you just cant beat this song, its my ringer finally! i found it at ComplimentaryRinger. Com it doesnt get old

  • paul o grady is the man i want to out on the piss with him

  • "I speak Esperanto" = "Mi parolas Esperanton."

He forgot the accusative -n on the end.

  • I thought the same but I'm not very advanced in Esperanto.

  • Christ that 'n' thing is screwing me up big time. I'm trying to learn Esperanto and the 'n' keeps appearing everywhere. Could you explain how its works? I'm really confused.

  • It shows that the word is a direct object. A basic rule is that it's used for nouns and adjectives after every verb, unless the verb is "esti" or is followed by prepositions.

  • Could you give me some examples? keep finding things like...

    Kion estas via nomo?

And then seeing it somewhere else as...

    Kio estas via nomo?

Without the 'n'. I just don't get it.

  • You can't say "kion estas via nomo?", because it's esti. But you could say for example "kion vi mangxas?", as kio is the direct object in the sentence. It's that way because eo has a free word order, so you could say for example "vi mangxas kion?", which clearly shows that kio is the direct object. And in the response, you'd see the direct object again: "mi mangxas pomon".

  • So the fact that its 'esti' means you don't use the 'n'?

So I wouldn't say kien estas vi? I would say kie estas vi? Because its 'esti'.

Also, if I took the esti out, to make kion via nomo? would it be okay with the 'n'?

  • 1. Ekzakte!

    2. For adverbs and prepositions it's a bit different, as the 'n' implies that the action is happening towards it.

    Example:

"Mi kuris hejme" - I ran at home

"Mi kuris hejmen" - I ran (towards my) home

    3. It would seem very weird if you remove the verb, so no. But just remember the simple rule: always 'n', besides after "esti" or prepositions.

It may seem complicated, but it isn't. Just ask me if it still isn't clear!

  • No sounds cool. Thanks a lot.

So do you speak fluent Esperanto then?

  • Well, I could surely survive by just speaking Esperanto :)

  • I have another problem.

I'm doing an online course thing, and it it gave me the translation of 'my children' as

    miaj infanoj

I get that j indicates a plural, so it makes sense to add it to infano, to create infanoj (children).

But then why add a j to 'mia' to create 'miaj'?

  • Mia is regarded as an adjective in Esperanto, so it's therefore changed to "miaj". Compare to Spanish "mi amigo" and "mes amigos".

  • huh. Thats strange.

  • Not really. It denotes a property for a noun, which means that it's indeed an adjective. Anyway, it's not hard remember it!

  • so when you are talking about a plural, in this case;

    infanoj

You have to put a j on the end of every adjective that relates to it in the sentence?

  • Exactly. That's necessary for the free word order of Esperanto to work.

  • Okay then. I guess if I ever need any questions about esperanto answering, I know who to talk too!

    Thanks again.

  • Plural of "mi amigo" is "mis amigos"

    "Mes amigos" means "friendly mounths"

  • Yes, that's absolutely correct. I have to say that my knowledge in Spanish has detoriated... :/

  • Never mind!

  • mia amikoj*

  • miaj amikoj :)

  • @lmc06g jes, vi estas korekta :)

  • Comment removed

  • because its a corresponding verb.

In many laguages its the same thing

spanish: mi nino sing. mis ninos plur.

engliish: my child sing. my children plur.

and since in Esperanto you can have someone speak with the words out of order

Miaj infanoj blah blah blah blah

    means the same as

blah blah infanoij blah blah miaj blah

with the adjective mia in it's plural form you'll know it goes with infanoj

  • Spanish: "mi hijo canta" "mis hijos cantam"

  • Just think of it this way. In an English sentence, we know who does the action to who(m) because of the word order.

    The dog chases the cat.

In Esperanto, the -n marks the thing that generally comes after the verb in English.

    La hundo ĉasas la katon.

And now the word order doesn't bear the functional load that it does in English, so you could say "La katon ĉasas la hundo" or "La katon la hundo ĉasas" or whatever, and we know what is chasing, and what is being chased.

  • @Imralu

I heard him say it but when they repeated it they didn't. I guess he let it slide because he didn't want it to become a big thing in the show.

  • tre bone!!

  • Awesome! I wish Esperanto got more mainstream coverage like this. At least so people hear about it and want to look it up.
