@enohelehen In Reason 6 you create an audio track from the Create Menu and then choose File -> Import Audio File. Audio files must be .AIFF or .WAV format (not MP3).
@bullbunnies Check out the glossary at sweetwater (dot) com. The effect is called phase cancellation. When one of a pair of stereo channels is inverted 180 degrees and combined with the other channel, anything that is common to both channels is canceled out by destructive interference, while those sounds specific to either channel are boosted. Inverting one channel means the peaks become troughs and vice versa and this is why they cancel each other out when combined.
I've been having such fantastic fun with this technique, creating 'karaoke' mixes of my fave 70's songs. It works a treat, but depending on how the song is mixed in stereo. With Pink Floyd's 'Let There Be More Light' the instruments are centred and the vocals panned to either side, so once cancelled you just hear the vocals. Thanks so much, Propellerhead, Reason/Record may just be the greatest single invention in history!
I hope you didn't take my comment offensive its just that your head bobbled so much that it started to make me dizzy a little. Do you think you can tone it down a bit
It's how I speak.. sorry.. no can do.. would you ask Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles to stop swaying? I cannot control my little quirks.. they just happen.
@pppeeeppee There's a school of thought that says you shouldn't say anything online that you wouldn't say to someone in person. I highly doubt you'd be so rude if you ever met James. Or maybe you would. James - loving the tips, excellent stuff. Keep 'em coming!
Is there a way to take the instrumental you've created and use it to *isolate* the vocals? Like phase cancelling the instrumental track or something?

We can apply eq and compression to the centre and 'stereo without centre' seperately this way on my master output too.
Kick drum, bass and vocals can be boosted on the centre, and a nice wideband boost can be applied to the stero without centre signal.

Is there a video to show you how to do the opposite of this and take out the background noise and just keep the vocals?

Hey man, that really is a great tip.
Better than spending money on those programs that claim to do do the same but never really get it done.
