I like V RODS They are to small for me 6-4 . I had to get a 109.It seems the people that dont like are bikes dont have a bike or just a young kid with his first 600 inline.

I have ALWAYS owned sport bikes: 2 late model CBR 600's and a 2006 GSXR 750. I now own a 2006 CVO Screamin' Eagle VROD like this one, but Red and Slate. Topless Air Box with K&N Filter, Rinehart Pipes, Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner (basically every mod except a supercharger). My sport bikes would still dust my VROD. It's plain and simple, a Harley is not an inline 4, high revving, light weight machine like sport bikes. I'd take on ANY cruiser though. THEY ARE 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT MACHINES!

You guys just don't understand don't you, this bike is not a car, its a bike, if you have ever rode a bike, its about feeling on the machine, which one you feel better on it, its all about ergonomy. Some people feels better sitting inside the machine, while others on top of it with there feet at a different angle.

A custom is a more accessible position and some just don't like a sports bike ride will be very happy to have a bike that has a custom riding position and comfort with some good perf

cruiser bikes offer more comfort over longer rides and generally have more torque than higher HP bikes meaning you can lug more stuff around. tourers are normally good alrounders. some find em comfy, some get a numb ass after 10 mins, but they can haul pretty well and have pretty good speed and endurance. sports bikes are good for speed and manouverability. you cant load em up as much as tourers or cruisers so you wanna travel light on long journeys but if your quick you can do several runs :p.

even the SM is comfy and there´s a lot of parts for travel and tuning (optic+power)

only negative is, that you cant "cruise", i´m always as fast as possible and allowed

@maxhole2 1/4 mile aint fast, all that speed and no ability to turn is wasted potential in my book. In car terms this would be a muscle car, only good for stomping on the pedal in a straight line and having a nice exhaust note. No need to do 140 in a straight only to have to slam the brakes to 20 in the turn.

well that's your opinion. But there are some nice Japanese and German luxury bikes out there. Ever heard of the Goldwing? its an opposing 6cyl powerhouse and i still see alot of them from the 70's still going around. BMW also has some very impressive bikes to.

I like the V-rods styling and engine because it is actually a new approach that harley should have done along time ago. Now, Is it the fastest bike? far from it. But it is a nice bike. Ever heard of the Suzuki Hayabusa? it costs less but pack a massive punch by being able to reach speeds near 200mph for 10k new.

I ride Harleys, they are the only bike that I ride. Some family and friends ride metric bikes, they look good, but just dont match a Harley in my book. I done some research today on price compared by similar engine sizes, I used Yamaha prices compared to Harleys, this is what I came up with from dealers here in my area

Yamahas ran from 12,390-18,690 dollars

Harleys ran from 11,900-18,900 dollars

So I dont buy the Harleys are over priced. You can buy cheaper Jap crappers with 800cc motors, so

Ok so they're similar in price. But the Harley comes with no upgrades at purchase. My girlfriends dad sold his kawasaki vulcan and bought a road kind. The vulcan was fully loaded and the harley on the other hand wasnt. The harley was a little more too. I find it odd that all the Road Kings, Street Glides, Ultras, Softail Classics, Customs, even the 1200 sporty custom all come loaded with chrome. So I dont see your point. Ride what you like or want, its your choice, but Harleys simply outclass all the other jap bikes and thier plastic parts. You cant compare a bike with aftermarket parts on it to a stock one, and if the jap bike comes with some fake leather saddle bags and stuff, well, they have to do something to compete with a good bike !!!

I have a VRSCX. The Vrod was designed to attract more of the Jap riders. Vrods are for people who like power/speed and dont want the same old churned out customs/choppers but still want to stay loyal/want a Harley.

the errosion of our beloved H-D. first it was dealers not working on shovelheads, then evos older than 1993. the end of the 5 pce crank and the end of the re-buildable crank in 1999 etc etc. now we have the v-rod, a porsche, jap copy only in existence because of noise and emission laws. its a short stroke ugly sounding ugly looking...just buy a jap bike and have more thats better for less. and if you dont like that get a real bike called a harley davison it aint this though.
