@SardonicFox1994 Absolutely untrue. In order for a person to work on "real projects" the source code must be available (to edit the program). It is impossible to do that outside of free software (because free software is the only type of programs that can be edited).

Richard as always, is completely right . Programming is not a Science nor an engineering discipline as many would like to pretend nowadays. Somehow during the early 90s, the profession entered an identity crisis and no one wanted to be called a computer programmer, because it no longer sounded sophisticated, employers went along with fancy names for the position it the believe that they where going to get some genius that will suddenly fix all the mess of their legacy applications.
