  • So cool!

  • ey man im thinking about getting me one. how much do they cost?

  • @marvincooper Anywhere from $50-350+ depending on the species.. Ours was a pygmy, only $50. The saltwater setup is what is expensive

  • @pommes1983 The octopus can be in fresh water for a temporary time, and the gold fish only needs to be alive in salt water long enough to be hunted. And saltwater fish can eat freshwater ones (but not the other way around).

  • lol the first time he moves its so SLY lol its funny lol

  • COOOOL!

  • i could just here the metal gear music playing XD

  • What a sneaky little thing! :D

  • You named your octopus Gyth? As in Gythianki? :)

  • seems like its been playin metal gear solid a bit too much!!!

  • What type of lighting did you ues and how big of tank was it

  • Don't worry about the fish

  • what type is this?

    how big do they get?

how often do you ahve to feed them how much and how often do you ahve to clean their tank? does it have to be big?

  • Dude, you have a Ninja Octopus. Other you tube videos of pet octopi the octopus just attacks the food without even hunting it.

  • So cute, I love octopus !

  • what kind of fish it that its look like a baby lugia ahahaha

  • fucken camper!!!

  • lmao! Indeed he was.

  • @billgatesmen45

    ROFLMFAO

  • What kind of octopus is it?

  • It's a type of pygmy octopus, when you order them they don't know what kind it is but we were thinking an Octopus Vulgaris or Bimac. He could stretch over 2 ft wide when he grew. He was still kinda young here.

  • hey nice octopus how much are they ? thx

  • @Krisbrak Hey dude how did they deliver your octopus?

I find it hard to believe that they could put a octopus could be put in a mini bag and kept in there without any food for however many days.

  • @dragonryder99 He came in a bag, in a box! No joke. They ship them quickly to keep them alive, but there is always the risk of them not making it..

  • @Gyth44 Somewho i believe that fed-ex with easily kill it because they forgot to put him in a bag :/

  • @maximustrainingwave like crabs or crayfish, and live fish, you would save a ton of money so see if there is anywhere around where you could gather food for them =] They will also eat frozen fish and stuff when they are young, but don't prefer it haha. They love to hunt things.

  • i really wished they lived longer

  • how much does it cost to get a pet octupus? its really cool

  • The octopus only actually costs about 30-250$ depending on what kind you get. Ours was only like 50 or 60, and ended up getting like 2 feet wide or wider when stretching! The most cost is the tank and the live rock, which cost upwards of 1-2000$. You can get the live rock over time though as they grow. They are really sensitive to water quality though so make sure you have a good protein skimmer and water quality. Also the food can cost alot, if you can find somewhere close to go and gather food

  • what would i need exactly for 1 as a pet i ment to say sorry..thanks

  • @Krisbrak hey, a few Qs:

    1. what do you mean "live" rock

    2. do you use regular tap water

    3. can they eat gold fish? thanks

  • Live rock, is rock with good algae and organisms living and growing inside of it. You can buy it by the pound at an aquarium store.

And you use regular tap water that you've treated with chemicals to settle the bad stuff out, and then you put salt in the jugs of the clean water. You have to do a water change (replace about 15-40% of the water) every few weeks so make sure you have extra water ready and fill up your containers you store it in every time you empty them.

  • They can eat gold fish every once in a while, but they are very fatty so they are more like snacks. If you live near a stream or saltwater, get crayfish, crabs, or fish for free as much as possible to help save on food costs.. And also you feed them frozen fish. We fed ours mostly frozen fish, salt and freshwater crabs, and crayfish!

  • @gtr3cords

NO, they cant eat gold fish.

    You forget they are freshwaterfishes.

  • I'm not going to type a huge comment about it because it's not worth it, but don't comment this video about keeping octopuses as a pet negatively, unless you've ever owned, or actually know something about them.. =/

Pygmy octopuses don't live long in the wild or captivity, it's just the nature of octopuses.. They just don't live long. Even Giant octopuses live like less than 5 years.. Unfortunate.. But sooo worth the time that you can have with them. Amazing animals.

  • octopi is the plural...

  • No, it isn't. nice try lol

  • Actually he's right. Octopi is plural for octopus.

  • nope, your wrong, it was on QI. Octopi is wrongly believed to be the plural, but like so many other things its nothing more than an urban myth.

  • Have you ever even looked it up? Octopi is plural for octopus. Everybody knows that, or at least they should. How can a word be a myth? It's in the dictionary.

  • @NuclearCentipede Haha no it isn't. I thought it was too until we got our octopus and got books on them and stuff. Octopodes is the actual plural, not used anymore though, and Octopuses is what is used now.

  • Octopodes is the plural of octopus

  • hmm..now i dunno what i want..an octopus or piranahs :S

  • get an octopus, piranha are like a lot of predators and don't do much to save energy

  • wow he is smart he hid in a totally different spot to find the dang thing

  • where did u get this octopus i want 1

  • now just were the hell do you legaly get an octopus

  • lmao.. Online, or even some stores can have them.. once you have the skills and supplies required to care for one..

  • octopus are legal in the us, there also very smart (just as smart as dogs) Cant wait to get mine =D

  • @BoY860 Probably even smarter.

  • Prawn got pwnd.

(Yeah, I know, it's a shrimp, but for the sake of the pun, I cannot stay biologically correct.)

  • thats a prawn mate.

  • It is? ... YAY, THE PUN WORKED OUT JUST FINE!! :D (Too bad I messeed up.)

  • lol, the only people who call them shrimp in the world are the americans.

  • ... And me... Apparently. >_>

  • what a waste.. that shrimp will taste so good if you bake it

  • Haha. If you like crayfish then maybe! I'd rather feed our buddy though. He was amazing..

Just passed away about a week ago though =[

  • :(.

  • jimmy says to Kevin "do you have any pets?" Kevin "yeah, a cat...how about you ". Ow, i have an Octopus, which i feed live shrimps". O_o

  • Im sorry to hear that, It sadens me.

how many gallons do you have for a tank

and what kind of octopus is it?

  • 38 Gallon Salt, and we're not positive what kind, Thinkin a Bimac or maybe vulgaris but it only got to like 26-30 inches when he stretched his arms out, which was decently big lol.

  • how old is it now? OR how long did it live for in your aqarium

  • It lived in our aquarium for like a year and 3 to 5 months, so almost a year and a half.. They are are only supposed to live from 1 year to 2 and a half years.. sucks, they are smart/amazing animals and really interactive, we grew pretty attached.

  • is it your pet? :O

  • Yup =]

  • where do you get living Shrimps? :O

  • u can buy them =)

  • mmmm nice Idea, I dont have enough Money to buy an Octopus as a Pet, I will buy a Shrimp as a pet instead :D

  • arnt thay suposto live 5 years ^^

  • no. thats for the giant octopus =)

  • Tru tru : ]

  • where did you get the octopus at coment back

  • Sorry, I forgot to look at the "more info" part before I asked.

  • Was that a craw fish he ate?

  • alot of money for a creature that dont last long in captivitey? do you agree?

  • Naw definitely worth it =]

  • actually males can live longer.

  • How do you go about getting a pet octopus? Would you need a license for having an exotic animal?

  • You just have to have a 38 gallon+ saltwater tank set up for a while with a lot of live rock until all of the levels of chemicals and critters are right, then you just order one off the internet =] If you go about getting one though, make sure you are dedicated to cleaning the water often, and spending $ on random food for them =P

No license needed tho nope. They run about $50-300 dollars or so depending on if you get a rare species or something.. And they only live about 1-1.5 years =[
