Your scapulae is wrapping around the outside of your body. only stretching your rhomboids and mid trap which is mostly likely overstretched already. i feel dumber after watching this.
This is a good video, but it is importent to remember that you have the ac and sc joints and several other structures who can stop the adduction off your arm before you get to the sternum.
God test, but you just have to examine the other structures ass well =)
So if you pass this test and a MRI shows no tears what can be causing my limited mobility? While doing the sleeper stretch I can barely get my arm down 5 degrees from vertical. Before doing the sleeper stretch I couldn't get my arm anywhere near a hammerlock, but now I can do it just fine. This video has me all confused,
@notta3d that means your doing everything right. this video is intended for people that THINK they have tightness in the posterior capsule, your progress from the sleep stretch shows that that is in fact your problem area. stay strong!
I completely believe this to be true...if you have pain/irritation I'm GUESSING that you have a big knot in your rear delt that you can work out using a tennis/golf ball.
I can do this easily with my right arm, but with my left...well my left shoulder hurts, and I cannot get past that line, not close...PT said my posterior capsule is VERY tight...so I definately need to do the stretches everyday. Thanks for the vid .
well i tried this with my injured shoulder. I do not believe this to be a valid way of assessing ones posterior capsule mobility. The very same shoulder that passed this test has half the mobility when put in the sleeper stretch position (when compared to that of the other healthy shoulder). For this reason alone i believe your test to be somewhat a fallacy...

The "truth" is that you need to learn more about scapular substitution.

Thanks for the vid mate!
I was at the doctor last day and he had a hardtime to find the right spot. Finally found the problem and advised to do daily the sleepers stretch.
I just did your test and I immediate could tell which shoulder needed some attention i.e. the leftside.
