I did a complete factory reset, it then asked for "other user" name and password. I put in what I had prior to reset, tried messing with it many times. Called a computer techy, and he said my hard drive was bad? It seems odd it is bad just by doing a reset, he tried to fix and said I need a new hard drive, I declined, now you load it asks for recovery disk (I don't have it). Anything I can do?

@heyimonyou turn on your computer in safe mode, thats like starting your computer in its inner secure vault. Nothing can mess you up while your in safe mode. Reset your computer from there, and there you go.

@BrandanDefiance you will keep whatever your computer was like when you just bought it. so its recomended for you to save your needed/import files to a file hosting site online, A disk, Or usb Etc.

Some computers even lets you chose which files to keep, hopes this helps!

@MrKill9r well you only get to keep the stuff that came with your computer, other than that you gotta save your stuff onto a disk or flash drive before you do this, but some computers even have it where you can chose which files to save during the reseting process.

If you have a XP maybe you can try shut down ur computer,

then turn on and try right when you turn it back on press either : try F2, F10,or F11 (try all of them at a time)

and a screen will pop up with something about reseting.

im not sure, it worked on my other comp.

Also try to Click Start.

Click Help and Support.

Type system restore in the Search box,

Okay, many people say Vista is useless, all its good for is Firewall and it looks more new. If you reset your computer, your computer is most likely to go back to Xp since its factory default.

@trevor100898 what do you mean? you have windows xp and you downloaded vista from a disk or you might lose all your programs you have on vista? if you ment programs on vista then you will be able to save it to a disk or flash drive, some computers and virus protection programs even have a backup harddrives.

and if you ment windows xp: well if think reseting vista back to xp is more worth it than buying a new windows 7 computer then go4it.all up 2 u.BUT i sugest u 2 call your comp's manufacture.
