What are you using for an igniter? Mine was a terrible thing to get running smooth. I ended up building the flame tube several times. You at least got it to light off and run. Cool stuff and nice job. I want to make a shaft drive for mine so I can put it on a kart. Too many projects and not enough money or time. Cheers!

jou can add a oil injection in the combustion camber, jou can preheat the jet whit that gas and when its hot jou can start inject waste oil, its a lot more hot and you can really feel the energy muhaha!

No oil? Do I just not see your sleek oiling design somewhere? You should know that that turbo is no longer any good at all. Soon the vanes will crash into the house because of bearing failure if you dont oil it.

Yea, wouldn't do that. It's otherwise known as a hot start. Too much fuel and not enough airflow. Also fuel, seems to be igniting too far down the combustion section (hence the fire). Need a shorter fuel/air dispersal unit (flame tube) and it needs to be near the air outlet of the compressor section. try to make a longer combustion chamber that utilizes the maximum amount of air/fuel mixture and it will control the flame and use the heat energy to produce thrust and not turn turbine blades red:)

Hi Ben, good try at the engine! I think you just need to redesign your combustor and you'll have a lot better luck at getting it running properly.

Unless you get a sensible exhaust gas temp, you'll eventually destroy the turbine vanes.

After one attempt at a suck it and see approach, I did the maths properly and now have mine running predictably every time. Check out my vid on my channel here if you like. If you want any help, drop me a message.

Yes, the turbines will only work correctly running the right way.

Exhaust gas enters on to the edge of the turbine, and exits from the centre of the exhaust snail.

I think the engine is struggling, bearings are shot. You must use an oil supply otherwise it will overheat the bearings will be quickly ruined.

OK, Congratulations on your engine, but that was INSANE!! There is no oil system, the camera man was standing in the 'bullet blade' zone, engine was overheating. Its amazing that you got that thing working for more than 10 seconds. Do you have a flame tube? why is the fuel inlet on the side?

Where's your test stand or something!It's a good thing that it didn't start. That turbo will produce enough thrust to knock that setup over. No EGT sensor? That turbine wont last long based on the white glow at the end of your video. You didn't let the thing spool up. Many DIY turbine builders will see this video. Make the proper changes and perhaps they will be able to give you some input into having a successfull build. Don't be another Darwin Award recipient.
