It's hard trust me. I have an aunt who is a champion piper and she says it's difficult, another aunt who is a champion drummer, and I'm a gold medalist Highland dancer. A guitar is not meant to wait for bagpipes to warm up.

If I am not mistaken Bon studied old films of Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney playing bagpipes at Duke Street Hospital (Glasgow) Christmas parties.

Bon was an accomplished piper himself and used to pipe for Kirkintilloch pipe band in Scotland as a kid.

Bon was a champion drummer not a piper. His dad played the pipes and he drummed. The only reason he knew how to play them was because he had played recorder and George Young coached him on the pipes.
