  • When i try to open the file with sony vegas it says file type is unsuppported even though im using ps3, on xbox

  • is there a pvr that records in 1080p?

  • @TheGreenfire23 the only capture card that i know of that records in 1080p for consoles is the black magic intensity pro. It is an internal capture card that uses a HDMI input/output and you need a much better computer and a desktop to use it. The hauppauge works perfectly fine. The differences between 720p and 1080i are virtually impossible to spot out.

  • @RKLshinobi would a desktop that costs under $1000 probably be able to do it cuz thats what i have

  • @RKLshinobi and also (lol im not so smart) is this capture card thing like a video card as in it actually goes in your desktop

  • @TheGreenfire23 there are 2 types of capture cards (internal and external) internal ones go into a desktop slot in side the computer (like a video card). External capture cards are like the Hauppauge that are separate and only connect to the computer using a wire (Like a printer)

  • @RKLshinobi oh ok thanks for the information :)

  • help it says it's not connected =( im on win 7 64bit

  • Hey guys can anyone help me? i just got my hauppage HD pvr and recording a quick clip on MW2, so i opened it in sony vegas 10 and it is really laggy, i dont think it is my PC because i have the requirements.

  • @FreshMenModz did you use the .m2ts file type? And also in the project preview make sure its in preview (half). If that still doesn't work, get a better computer?? :P

  • @Gainuz are you using these render settings? Also what video player are you using? Windows media player is fine for playing back .mp4 files. The problem might be your render settings, computer specs because of the raw h.264 encoding, or your media program that you are watching it on.

  • Wait for the video card memory is it the dedicated video memory or the total available graphics memory. Please reply to both questions

  • @FailFounder each video card has its own set limit of memory for different types of uses. Meaning, certain percentages of the memory go to different uses/programs. Sony vegas mostly puts strain on the CPU rather than the GPU. If you want to change how much dedicated memory is used for sony vegas, you can find your graphics card's drivers and manually control it.

  • Everything on my computer is fine...apart from the processor. My processor is 2.00 ghz. Is it crucial to have the right speed processor?

  • @FailFounder the processor is probably the most important part to running this program. You need at least 2.5 for smooth playback without force rendering. I have a quad core @2.83ghz and i still sometimes lag. The more cores @ higher ghz the better. Try a phenom II X6 or intel's new "i" series cores

  • @RKLshinobi Ok thanks a bunch :D

  • Hey Shinobi using your settings on Vegas 9, whats your average file size for a 1280x720 6-10 min game? Something I cant comprehend is that you look at the Final Fantasy XIV CGI Trailer that is like 7 minutes long.. it is 720p, it looks amazing I downloaded it, it is a mp4.... only 155mb.. Yet I make a gameplay vid thats about 7 minutes.. and it turns out to be 800mbs with similar settings to yours. The only difference that I saw was the None (Progressive Scan) and the variable rate to 13,500,000

  • @Myselfsama my average is the same as yours or even larger because I put a lot of CC and other effects on my videos. Also trailers made by companies are professionals and know a lot about compression and file size so thats why the file size is so small. Also they aren't using a hauppuage hd pvr.

  • @RKLshinobi So when you submit at a 720p HD video to youtube its 800+mbs in size? That seems a bit much, theres gotta be a way to lower that size at the very least by half without sacrificing too much quality.

  • @Myselfsama well with the Hauppauge you are encoding directly so you basically can't. You could try to convert it to an .avi using the huffyuv codec. Then change it into a .x264 and it might lower, but the .avi file size will be huge. Theres nothing you can do about the size except lower the quality for lower size

  • Yo Whenever i record with My PVR I go to render it in Sony Vegas and after rendering the screen just flashes black so you cant see the game play properly?? Any ideas why?? New computer maybe?

  • how do you get that bar at the right hand side? i have windows 7..

  • @evilduck63 if you are talking about the desktop its called rocketdock. I got my new computer and have a more modified version

  • You need a 2.8Ghz

because i was thinking of getting a mac mini and thats only 2.44ghz hmm:/

  • @iHeroicz the hauppauge hd pvr doesn't support the mac OS

  • @RKLshinobi

It does, but you need a different third party software than total media extreme. I forget what it's called. I have a PC too :D

  • @RKLshinobi yes it does

  • I just set up my hd pvr. I press record and then it saves a mp4 file. i can watch it directly in quicktime media player but it is off sync and when i inport it into sony vegas pro 9 i can hear the audio but the screen is black. HELP!??

  • come on im sure most people who have pvr's dont have pc's that are too powerfull my friend had just a dual core processor and 3gb ram and an intergrated graphics card uses the pvr fine

  • So umm, if I happen to record in MP4, and put the file in Vegas, it automatically makes lag and extends it (From 4mins to 5mins, including huge lag on preview and the video when rendered). Would you happen to know how to fix this? I downloaded the k-lite codec pack with all the MPC and etc programs, but have no idea if I need to config. or launch any programs included in the pack. Any help is appreciated.

PS: Will start recording as M2TS in the future. Thanks ^^

  • @MikaAst to fix that you need a better computer or an upgraded one. If you give me your specs i can tell you what you can do. And yes ALWAYS capture in.m2ts

  • @RKLshinobi Processor: Intel Core Duo 2.80GHz

    RAM: 4Gt(Gb)

    OS: 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate

GFX Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220

    ___

PS: It seems the problem is only with the .mp4 files. I will post some tests tonight or tomorrow. A same or two clips with different settings.

  • @MikaAst im pretty sure its just the .mp4 file. Its not the best for editing and playback

  • for the size if i record at 720 or below, when i bring the video into sony vegas, all it has is the audio, please help!?!?!?!?

  • i record in .m2ts format aswell and when i try to import to cony vegas pro 9, it says it cant open the file! can anyone help?

  • @TheAuZZieGamer its either your computer is too slow or you dont have the right codec. install the k-lite codec pack. google it

  • I have the requirements to use the hd pvr but its just to laggy in sony vegas do you know how to fix it?

  • @TheRemPro get more RAM or a better computer

  • How can you make your computer powerful/faster?

  • @TheRemPro buy more RAM or just get a new computer

  • Hey. when i put my m2ts files into vegas it's no film just sounds:/

  • @MrGhostydude mine too, its pissing me off

  • Hey Guys, if your .M2TS file is laggy in vegas, you can convert it to an AVI file and it will keep its quality and will not lag.

  • @SharkCityProductions the file size is HUGE!!

  • @RKLshinobi Yeah, i know, a 10 min video will come out to like 1GB, a three hour long upload.

But then again, if your like me and editing a montage and its lagging so badly that you cant properly key frame effects then it kinda evens out.

Just have to pick the lesser of two evils i guess, or get a better PC lol.

  • My clips are the same. I have a brand new laptop with 2.1ghz I think it was. I recorded in MP4 on my PVR and put the clips in to vegas and they lagg sooo badly. But when I recorded in M2TS, the files couldnt even be dragged in to the vegas timeline . .

  • @est1993getme what version of Sony Vegas do you have?

I have/had pro 8 and 9 and they both are compatible with the .m2ts files.

  • @RKLshinobi I had 9, but I forgot to keygen it so I lost the trial. Now I have Sony Vegas 8.0

  • @est1993getme what OS are you running? is that doesnt work try downloading the k-lite codec pack

  • @RKLshinobi What do you mean OS? & Ill download the K-Lite Codec Pack now thanks

  • why are my clips so laggy when i put them into vegas????

  • @IIIIIDRBAIIIII its either because you don't have a fast/powerful enough computer or you have the file type not as .m2ts

  • Thanks, getting my PVR hopefully this month dude. :)

  • @LithierHoshi if you have any questions feel free to ask

  • @RKLshinobi Thanks bud, should have it all set by the time the Reach Beta gets here.

  • Thanks really helped.
