  • OH SNAP

  • Can I substitute cookie for vagina? Or is that too offensive? If it is offensive please report me.

  • oh shoot

  • Love it.

  • lol

  • I'll get confused next time a women asks me if I want some, ehh, cookie.

  • I want that cookie.

  • Keep putting out the word!

  • I did it all for the cookie! The cookie! The cookie!

  • Yay Rob! This is excellent.

  • good ad. well done.

  • Wait, people assumed this ad was racist because the actors were mostly black, instead of assuming it was by black producers and actors for a black audience.

    Now, THAT'S racist. And dumb.

  • When does the one for women come out?

  • hoogte1ziekte, are you trolling or do you not understand the gist of the commercial? It's not anti-cookie-eating. It's trying to say... USE A RUBBER, YO.

  • I am afraid of AIDS, but I'm fairly certain you can't get AIDS from sharing a cookie nor through the consumption of most bodily fluids.

  • Yes, the target audience is DC. The PSA was also filmed with the kids at the teen clinic that received the grant to produce it. As noted in the notes, one in 20 DC residents is HIV positive and 1 in 50 has AIDS. So certainly there is a need we're addressing with this one.

  • I worked for Planned Parenthood for years and all of their affiliates (clinics) operate somewhat autonomously so that they are more in touch with the communities they serve. For example this ad would not work well in rural Idaho, Texas or Vermont. This was produced by the PP in DC, they know their audience. So stop crying "racist" and start listening to the message. View the stats at the CDC website.

  • METAPHOR -- a figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally denoting one kind of object or idea is used in place of another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them without using like or as

e.g. teaching KIDS that there is no guarantee that they know who their sexual partners may have been with by using a cookie metaphor

  • Xeni nails it - DC is 60% African American. If you watch ads produced in this area, it's not uncommon for most or all of the actors and actresses featured in a given spot to be African American, too... which makes sense, really.

Genneaux also makes an excellent point.

  • yeah i'm a little disturbed by the kneejerk responses calling this ad racist. look a little deeper people, this is obviously a local spot. please don't be so easily fooled into giving such a preprogrammed response.

  • I didn't know you could get AIDS from eating a cookie.

  • Please, let's not be daft. The PSA is clearly intended for a specific target audience. This from the Center for Disease Control: "According to the 2000 census, blacks make up approximately 13% of the US population. However, in 2005, blacks accounted for 18,510 (49%) of the estimated 38,096 new HIV/AIDS diagnoses in the United States in the 33 states with long-term, confidential name-based HIV reporting."

Clearly, Planned Parenthood is going for a specific demographic here.

  • whups, that's w w w - ppmw - dot - org. Stupid YouTube comment restrictions won't let you post urls.

  • I can't speak for the director or the organization behind the PSA, but bear in mind that it was produced for Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC (w w w ppmw dor org) a local entity that presumably serves a mostly black population.

  • Most cookies go straight from the machine that punches them out, to your grocery store without ever touching human flesh. But it would appear to be that the message here is that only Black people get AIDS. I guess that's a step away from blamming the homosexuals, but its not a step forward.

  • This PSA was made in DC a city with a huge black population. Maybe they just looked around the office and thats the variety that they got. Also monkey I am pretty sure they dont really mean "cookie", try to think of something that rhymes.

  • I understand what was implied. I was just being an ass.

  • They might not be! Two pairs of hands are wearing gloves.

  • Why are they all black ? White people don't get AIDS ?

  • If you asked why everyone is white in most clips, you would be writing a lot of comments.
