  • Amazing song...and it´s this one in a million more.!

    Thank´s PJ I´m with you guys.Cheers.

  • Great version! Thanks for posting!

  • i got memories, i got shit

  • One of my favorites, for sure. Eddie Vedder is a treasure!

  • The best live band I have ever seen. But, why do you they refuse to play this song when I am there? I have been there often. You don't play Off He Goes when I am there either.

My complaints are nonsense. Pearl Jam have never disapointed me. They have moved me every show.

  • Best version ever!

  • Those vocals are insane. Vedder is one of THE greatest

  • why is this song only available on a 2 song EP. it's one of most fave pj songs. woe is me

  • A couple of people didn´t like this. Why even click on this link if you cannot tolerate awesomeness?

  • I hate that I love this song. I don't like relating to every word of it :( Still awesome and probably one of the best live version of it.

  • my all time favorite PJ tune!!

  • Does anyone else hear a definitive Neil Young influence in this song? This song just screams Neil Young to me.

  • @USAPatriot63

Neil Young actually played lead guitar on the original recording. Eddie Vedder said in an interview that Young had been giving him "songwriting lessons," and this is what he came up with.

  • @USAPatriot63 good observations skills. Vedder wrote this song little after he was tutored by Young on songwriting.

  • And I'll stay in bed...

    Oh, little I've seen there

If just once I could be loved...

Oh, I'd stare back at me

    ...

  • Great video and all but the song is actually I got Id (as in the freudian concept of Id) not i Got ID (as in identification). but graet video tho!

  • Come Back to Brazil

  • i wanted to cover this song live but i can't seem to find official lyrics or even ones that just seem right. "i walked alive when you held me in that night"?? ehh..that can't be right...right? oh well maybe it'll just make me try harder to write a song this good. not that i ever could..

  • "an empty shell seems so easy to crack, i got questions i don't know who the fuck i'm ever gonna ask, i'll just lie alone and wait for the dream that i'm not ugly and you're looking at me" truer words have never been spoken. rock on eddie, stone, mike, jeff, matt, and boom. keep on rocking

  • the studio version is much better in my opinion. in freudian psychology the " id " represents our base desires. the most fitting accolade to describe eddie vedder is unequivocally, " genius ". grunge at its finest!

  • @mellomex85

The studio version is much better because it's Neil Young on lead guitar. Pearl Jam would have been a lot more interesting with someone like Neil Young as their lead guitarist. Mikes a fine guitarist but he doesn't have one original bone in his body. He's just a student of Hendrix and Page. Most of Pearl Jams electric music is boring. This is one of the handful of songs that is actually interesting as far as their electric work goes and it's mostly because of Neil.

  • @BarstoolBlues33. i love mccready though, and i'm a bit shocked to hear you say he's unoriginal. though vedder wrote most pj's lyrics mccready wrote most of the music, for instance " given to fly ". and you gotta love his work with mad season.having said that, pearl jam would have been awesome with neil young, they don't call him the grandfather of grunge for nothing. cheers mate!

  • Comment removed

  • @mellomex85 Uh...no he didn't. Gossard and Vedder have always been the two primary songwriters for most of the bands duration and have written the music of more songs then anyone else in the band. Mccready has probably had the least input in the compositions out of anyone in the band besides some of the early drummers. You really don't have any idea what you are talking about.

  • @BarstoolBlues33 are you trying to tell me mccready didn't write the music for given to fly ? if it wasn't for mccready pearl jam wouldn't have come to be. take a quaalude and settle down there tough guy

  • @mellomex85

Did I say that? I'm commenting on how you said mccready wrote most of the bands music when he has written the least probably. Besides that, given to fly is hardly an original composition...it's pretty much Zep's Going to California reworked slightly. Lets face it, songwriting was never Mike's forte.

  • @BarstoolBlues33 each to their own but yeah nearly every lead guitarist of the last 20yrs have copied other peoples stlye..but yeah i have been to a hell of a number of shows..ac/dc...the doors..pink floyd..creed..rhcp..muse..metallica..slipknot..rolling stones..the who..kiss..led zep and mike is still 1 of my favs..as for neil young..well i wouldnt call him original

  • Tengo recuerdos tengo mierda, que no muestro tanto...

  • I love u still~

  • Someone once told me, "Nickulback rox cuz they sound like a better version of Pearl Jam.". I told him, "Shut your damn mouth with such disrespect, Eddie Vedder has more songwriting talent and singing ability in a pubic hair than Chad Choader will ever have!"

  • @musicphan1 Hahaha, Nickelback.

Anyway, this is my second favorite PJ song.

  • @musicphan1 Dude seriously can you give me that person's address? I must fight that guy.

  • I don't know why I have to mention this, but Eddie looks like he just got out of bed. And you know, that just adds to the whole thing that makes Pearl Jam, Pearl Jam. He's got this whole 'don't care' thing with his whole persona and then he gives you THIS--the music!!! It's like Eddie and all the rest of them put it ALL into the music. Going to their shows IS a RELIGIOUS experience!!! If you haven't gone to see them live, then GO NOW!!!

  • To me, one of the best pearl jam songs, absolutley beatufull.

  • I just can't stop listening to this song... love it so much!

  • Comment removed

  • besides "corduroy"...this is simply the best pj song

  • i think they would complain eddie steals the show. but they let it happen. good fuckin tune

  • @M3lloW55 well put.

  • I was totally at this show... it was a religious fucking experience.

  • So so love this song!

  • 1. Alive

    2. I am Mine

    3. Jeremy

    4. I got shit

    5. Black/Rooster

  • Love Pearl Jam! This was my first PJ concert.

    My 5 fav

    1. I am Mine

    2, Alive

    3. I got id

    4. Parachutes

    5. Elderly woman

  • I love this song man. I was so glad to find it in the rearview mirror collection. I hit repeat like 10 times on this one!

  • this song should've been as popular as Black... only hardcore PJ fans would know about this song existence...

  • 1. I got Id

    2. Yellow Ledbetter

    3. Corduroy

    4. Betterman

    5 I am mine

  • 1. Ledbetter

    2. I Got Shit

    3. Dissident

    4. I Am Mine

    5. Undone

  • I think Neil Young originally played lead guitar for this song? Did he also play the kick-butt solo at the end?? Anyways, one of my favorite PJ songs!

    Noblesville, IN 05.07.2010 :D

  • @FearMonstro

Yep! It was Eddie, Jack Irons on drums, Neil Young on lead, and Brendan O'Brien on bass when it was recorded in the studio.

    Columbus, OH 05.06.2010 XD

  • what a perfect song and what a great version of it! My list of PJ favorites is a long one, but this is definitely up there.

  • i thinked that this music was called i got shit.......

can someone send a private message to me and tell me whats the real name???

    thank and great video

  • Great sound but too bad so little is shown of THE REST OF THE BAND. This isn't Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam.

  • Jesus, do you complain about the Mona Lisa and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony as well?

  • Could hear it all night long....never boring, so beautiful...love this piece

  • this was such a fantastic show

  • Incredible.

  • the original guitar part is knowingly from Neil Young...Taste of it is different..;)

btw Live performance is clearly Eddie's piece of cake..

  • when im stressed eddie makes me forget everything

  • Eddie is so intense! He sings with heart and soul and fills the world with beauty and thruth.

  • I love u

  • eddie this is your favourite??

  • Just beautiful! One of my favorites.

  • hey...where did my comment go? I was saying that... not sure why this song holds such magic for me but I first heard it in 1996 and have been listening to it since!

  • One of the most underrated / underplayed PJ songs

  • @PatriotD32 i heard this song when i was a kid then i started listening to Pandora radio and this song came on i bout shit myself

  • @PatriotD32 I fricken LOVE this song!!! Since what, 1994 or 1995?? Classic grunge right here!!!

  • Comment removed

  • great song. one of pearl jam's best. eddie vedder is a musical genius and possiblly one of the world's greatest song writers.

  • @dvkerner96 Totally agree

  • Thanks for sharing

  • This video is so good it's sick. I've always loved 'I Got Id.' Eddie is like supercharged and shit. He's just a bad ass.

  • The bands from the 90s were sheer magical. Grunge just puts what we have today, to shame. Why can't it be 1997 forever?

  • 2 true bud

  • It is my favorite song

  • One of my favorites!

    Awesome and Intense.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • For some reason this is my fav song by them even though i dont know the lyrics its just the song

  • One of my favorite...just amazing how they can describe feelings through music...

  • Keep up the great posts and ignore "locals" who say we don't say San Fran. I've lived in the Bay Area for over 30 years and I still use San Fran.

    cheers

Outside Lands in little over two weeks!

  • Great sound! Thanks for the wonderful post of an amazing song! Long live PJ!

  • Ugh, please don't call our city "San Fran" the locals can't stand that nickname.

Just call it San Francisco, thanks!

  • DOUCHEBAG!

  • 300% fucking real rock.

  • I was about 4th row at this show, it was a very good show. Check out the setlist, they only did about two slow songs, rest were barn burners.

  • This f****** out rocks everything else, anytime, anywhere!!!

  • one of the best fucking songs ever

    pearl jam fucking rocks

  • FANTASTIC! Gotta love Eddie at 2:50 - 3:10 He's so into it. Well he's into the whole song. But he really lets it loose here.

  • Comment removed

  • No, it was released on a mini-EP called 'Merkinball'. It features Neil Young on guitar, though. The EP is considered an official companion to Youngs 'Mirrorball'. Lyrics and music for this one and Long Road were all done by Pearl Jam.

  • neil does however play guitar on the studio version of this, look in the credits. but still, eddie composed the main riff and progression, and neil just does the solo at the end.

  • It is written by Eddie i believe but was recorded on Merkinball with Neil on guitar. So it wasn't really a Neil song, just recorded during the mirrorball sessions.

  • DOUCHE!

  • "And I fought back in my mind

    Never lets me be right...

I got memories, I got shit

    So much it dont show..."

    Long live PJ

  • Amazing! My favorite Pearl Jam song, the guys rock!

  • <3 awsome ty :)

  • That's a beautiful song. pearl jam is one of the best Group ever.

  • Maaan... What a song!

  • Such an amazing song, so much I can relate to.

  • saw these guys live at the Forum in L.A. still have alot of energy in thier music few bands through out the years have kept it together.

  • I think this might be my favorite PJ song. No "Rearviewmirror." no" Release", Ah, forget it. Too many great songs. I'll love them forever.

  • it is my fav too...a lot of "real fan" think the same way with this song! maybe is becouse we think this is the fav song for eddie too...the first time I listened this song I cried and I heard 100 times! my favo since I had 14 years, know I had 28 and I think the same thing

  • recuerdo de mi adolescencia imposible de olvidar, gracias por compartirlo

  • la rajaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • <3 <3 This song

  • Thanks for posting!

  • ohhh! gran cancion!

  • la mejor banda del mundo oirlos en vivo no tiene madre!

  • Awesome!! I was there for this show! Thanks for posting!

  • My guess is the Fillmore?

  • What does he mean with:

"Oh, I walked the line... When you held me in at night."

  • Comment removed

  • hes actually sayin "i walked the line wehen you held me in that night" and then later on "i paid the price never held you in real life" so that night was either a dream or some kind of fantasy, but thats just my guess

  • it's called ' i got shit' on the touring band dvd..a much better description :) lol

  • i love this band so much...greatest band on the planet :)

  • Dude,

Still one of my very favorite PJ live songs ... of course it helps cause I was there in SF.

    cheers

    Kip

    PS. Yes we did!

  • Great performance here.

This is their best song, and I attribute it to the influence of one Niel Young.

  • Damn his vocals just get better as the years go on. Best live band around today.

  • This song is so powerful!! eeddie you are the best!! I hope you'll come to germany soon =)

  • Yes, one of the more emotionally powerful versions. Eddie is exorcising some demons at the end. In a word, wow.

  • Rock on Pearl Jam...whats really good about Youtube....ever since the year 2005, great live rock concerts can now be played at anytime so you can relive your memorys of these great bands before they break up and go away...:) keep on rocking Pearl Jam

  • Wow! Eddie really nails it here.. Not that he doesn't always, but, wow!

  • Hey man, the actual name is I got Id (as in Freud's Id)...

  • I love this song. It has great lyrics like so many Pearl Jam songs.

  • I saw this show! It was fucking amazing. I wish the vid had Inside Job on it, but hey, you can't have everything. Thanks for the upload :O

  • simplesmente demias !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • e isso ai !!!!!!!!

  • I like a lot this song !

    Pearl Jam!

  • good boy

  • Now when people say "Music" I think back to the days of Grunge and Pearl Jam.....Not some little wayne bullshit or death metal.....

Pearl Jam & Grunge Rock for ever...

  • May God bless you. I don't understand how people can listen to little penis Wayne especially when his music has little to no actual message (except that he's the greatest and much better than you will ever be). Hip hop has mostly gone to shit. What happened to gangster rap. Pretty much only Kanye West is doing some good things, and that is what i call New Wave rap. Grunge is dead, as well. Tell me what the fck am I supposed to listen to!!!!

  • nice man i love this song and i fucking love pearl jam thanks for the vid.

  • As opera man once sang, "Eddie is so amazing he can make a straight male question his own sexuality".

Truly, Eddie is just an amazing talent. We are fortunate to have him around during our time here on Earth.

  • I'm straight and I dont question my sexuality, but I do love him as a man, as a human being, as some guy who makes me chill

    * sorry my english!

  • great song, check out CHRIS HOLLY "FOREVER(NEVER)" on youtube. peace

  • This is the best Pearl Jam song by far

  • The 90's had some of the most amazing music of my Gen(X)eration. I miss that time....

  • Oh man....I love him.

  • this will be playing at my funeral

  • i think that would ruin the song by playing it at such a sad thing

  • seem like a sad song to me. awesome, but sad.

  • I've seen these guys live and I am suprised how much rhythm guitar Eddie Vedder plays. He is a pretty good player too!

  • You should hear some of his solo shows. You'd be surprised at just how good of a guitarist he is!

  • got some to show us, you almighty?:)

  • I wish haha...10 club would have me banned from youtube due to their recent censorship binge.

  • This is a great song that they did with Neil Young. This is an excellent live version from an awesome band.

  • just a little message to shane31lv and a lot of other guys out there, eddie looks fu@£$ yummi!!! you see, it is possible to LOVE pearl jams music AND eddie for being a sexy guy. some writes that eddie doesnt like this fixation on him... well, sorry eddie:) i think he probably forgive us girls:)

  • Honestly, best band someone can watch live.. Eddie remains fantastic.. As for the song one of the greatest of the band..

  • I agree, Eddie isn't the totality of Pearl Jam - he'd say the same himself I think, but that's the only band I've seen in concert where EVERYONE sang EVERY LYRIC to EVERY SONG.

Compared to other bands, I don't think pride or arrogance is an issue for him.

  • I have to agree, the fixation on eddie doesnt even make sense anymore, hes not attractive really now, yes hes great but so is the rest of the fucking band.

  • Well he is an amazing frontman, and even average frontmen can steal the show. Ed has always been about putting the emphasis on the whole band though, not just him.

And also, I think he looks pretty good for a guy in his forties!

  • Man, he looks better now than ever! I'd take him in half a second, don't know what you're not seeing there, but he's still got it. They are all awesome, loved them for many years.

  • fan-flippin-tastic. however, its a shame that the camera is trained on eddie 99% of the time. we missed some sick matt cameron fills..

  • honestly the best version ive heard

  • totally agree man!!

and my favourite song too with save you and light years..well actually i got 10 favourites song:P

  • viva la pearl jam..viva la eddie vedder..keep on rockin in the free world!

  • very good vibrations !

  • i think he looks hansom
