Hey I loved this song when it came out...Bootsauce used to get blared from my car most mornings crossing the Thames river into the UWO campus let the freaks listening to Vanilla Ice I was coming. great cover version of HOT CHOCOLATE;s tune
Now this is the rocking version of the song I like to hear, the one found on their greatest hits album. For some reason whenever I hear this on the radio, it's always a lousy, tepid version.
thank you for posting this video. when ever i mention Bootsauce people look at me like i am crazy... These guys were great.. Great entertainers, great partiers and great advice givers...
this song was voted by a canadian Chart magazine as the worst canadian song ever recorded, what the fuck, it beats out half of the canadian rap and hip hop alone, fuckin magazines and critics dont know fuck these days
@XanaduMyHome horsehit. This is a GOOD song if you don't have to watch the excrutiating video with the day-glo clothes. You're telling me these guys aren't better than BILLY TALENT? Fucking heresy.
@XanaduMyHome I could see "Worst Style by a Lead Singer", but worst Canadian song? I think we should check some Barenaked Ladies album filler from the early 2000's for that... but a rock-remake of Hot Chocolate's classic would be hard to screw up. This video sucks for sure, though...
Perry Johnson (aka Pere Fume) went on to co-found a multimedia company. Sonny Greenwich, Jr. started touring and recording with his father (legendary jazz guitarist Sonny Greenwich, Sr.). Al Baculis is still prominent on the Montreal music scene, having performed with the Greenwiches and currently as a member of Phantom Power.
MMMMMM TY for posting. Added to my Canadian music list! Got em in the West Coast Chapter because they Rock as much as our local bands. Not bad for a bunch of Montreal boys!
We all know covers are rarely better than the original but if there's an exception to the rule this is a great example. Superb version and it ROCKS!!!
Bootsauce still sounds great. But to really get them you have to see them live. Seriously skilled and you can dance to it. What's not to like? I remember I took some Aussie snowboarders from up at Big White to see them in Kelowna and they were blown away. They didn't expect to dig it but they did.
With all due respect, despite their home-town area, I did enjoy this band and even saw them live. Good song actually. Funny, just a couple of weeks ago I saw them on MuchMoreMusic's Much More Retro show and felt the urge to check'em out here. I guess the station considers them "classic" now. Anyhow good luck to drumdude2008 if he's still attempting the reunion.
Bootsauce were feakin awesome! I happened to catch 'Love Monkey #9' on Much Music at someone's pad and could NOT get that song outta my head so I had to buy the hits album.
By the way, anyone got 'Love Monkey #9 for posting here on the tube?
One of em is right here...;-) I just joined you tube...I'm the drummer in this video. Thanks for the compliments. The band disbanded in 96. I tried to contact a few of them about 2 years ago for a reunion/comeback but didn't get positive replies from the ones I managed to contact.
Al was one of the best funk/slap/fretless playing bass players. Sonny was also an innovative rock guitar phenome.Intelligent, funky and original band.Definetly missed...
love monkey #9 love it, where are these guys?????????????????????? what happend to them saw them 2 time once at the Republic one at the back ally in calgary.are thy still doing concerts?
Bootsauce were everything RHCP wished they were. Shame Universal didn't give a shit about them.
