  • it's not the best oscillations but it's ok.

These midi keyboards were always crap. They always sounded like crap.

Never knew why they couldn't make real piano keyboard.

  • i had the "evolved" version of this keyboard (the sa-10 i think) and i cannot believe you just warped so wickedly insanely tha 90% of the sounds that made my childhood! im totally astounded! youa re a total freaking genious!

  • this pisses me off

  • 1:05 how to sound like benny benassi

  • I am looking at the SA-5 sitting on my nightstand right now....

"WHY CAN'T YOU DO THAT??" O_o I think it's time I try something like this myself. This is one of the best circuit bending videos I've seen.

  • I can't imagine why those dogs are barking

  • That's amazing! It can make so much different noises! :O

  • I thought this was going to suck like most circuit bending jewtube vids but I was pleasantly surprised this time.

  • hello! I'm not trying to bend this keyboard but my little son have one.

from time to time, when he turn it on I hear a sound like a motorcycle, constantly and it changes if I turn it off and on again.

I leave it for a while and when returned, it works fine.

    What could it be?

I've had a battey leak and after that this issues begun.

    Thanks!

  • @fabianlujan perhaps the liquid in the battery bridged a few contacts, which have become loose after some time

  • i put a video response up, check out my keyboard, its badasssss

  • So cool around 2:00 ... sick rhythmic loop.

  • thanksaphex distorted kakadusong)))) thanks!

  • i want!

  • Nice work

  • great fuckin bending!

  • hahahahah. you rock man.

how do you do this? wow. very cool, man.

    e-mail me: bicycledays@yahoo.com

  • 4:42... it is in pain.

  • If you let me have all those keyboards i promise i'll have sex with you!

  • Do you think I could use this keyboard to play 'I will always love you' by Britney Houston?

  • This is so cool.

I'm currently trying to learn how to Circuit bend.

  • 6:20 RULEEES

  • Jesus copulating Christ, what a sound. Nice video!

  • trance music... hahaha

  • i still using tis keyboard :D

  • !!! This is... way cool! Awesome sound from such a tiny device! Damn, the sounds just don't... stop...

  • Nice to see the open and free exchange of info here. Very cool..

  • i totally had this piano when i was like 5

  • totally bananas

  • YOU R NUTTZ (in an electronic ffreaky way)

Hope that you dig our Holiday experiment with Casios!

    keep in touch

    ( ( ( ( kasio kristmas ) ) ) )

  • Nice one. There's always something different about each one of these i see. Lot's of ways to bend them. Good work on this one. It's a shame they don't glitch as well as the sa1 due to it insisting on accessing the demo tunes (mine did anyway) but they're still cool when put thouch an fx chain.

  • wow i've been thinking what i could do to ma sa-8 think i'll start messing wid it hehe ; ) Once i done, i'll reponse this vid.

  • I fuckin love the sound at 2:00!

the things i could do with that shit!

  • the piano at the start sounded sweet.

  • Hear it scream!

  • when i have 1500 spare dollars and not 50 then i would muppetitron

  • hey iv never circuit bent anything in my life

if i bought this is there any chance i could make it sound half as gd as this ?

  • Oh wow, I have the EXACT same keyboard, and the funny thing is after it being in my attic for years it's circuit bent itself and sounds really awesome when playing the backing tracks and things like the ambulance sound effect. It only works for a few minutes at a time though =(. Great work with this one!

  • to extend the sounds of a shitty keyboard into an awesome noise machine.

  • What kind of Marshall is that in the background?

  • This is very cool!! I can't belive you are taking these lil' "toy" keyboards and extracting such warped and wicked sounds out of them! Would an SK-5 work for a mod like this? And does one have be an electronics Whiz

to do a mod like this? Thanks!

  • Hi, If you look for 'More from xd515' you will find an SK-5 that has also had the treatment :-)

I use electronics theory to work out the modifications, rather than random messing about, but If I find any good mods I make them public so anyone can use them. The mods for this SA-5 are posted on casperelectronics dot com.

    Cheers

    Paul

  • @xd515 thank you so much

  • @timjmoran "Would an SK-5 work for a mod like this?" i envy you for not knowing the answer to that question because you are in for a world of pleasant surprises .. not only is the sk-5 one of the most wonderful things to bend the process is pretty easy .. it wont sound exactly like this because it's a different type of sound creation , but you will not be dissapointed .. good luck , have fun

  • very nice

  • This is amazing bud!

Check out my experiment with the Casio SA-5

  • Great stuff...I need this when on Nitrous

  • this is insanely coooool.

  • hey man, currently trying to get my hands on my of these. liking your mods on this, the analogue filter dist thingy sounds fooking sick!! i've got the reed ghazala book and noticed that he doesnt include those bends you got on yours. keep up the good work boss!!

    ...d

p.s if i get my hands on one of these i wud love to know where and your mods are!

    cheeers

  • Hi d..

Many thanks for your kind words :-) Have you seen the SA-5 Paradox I did after this? it is even more mental!

I have put a link to download the build instruction .zip file in the 'About this video' section.

    Cheers Oceanus

  • Ahh no worries man, yeh saw that, it is indeed lost its marbles!! i think i mite try my hand at the more simple mods first! how long u been modding these bad boys?

  • I did some bending a couple of years ago, and then put it to one side. All you see on youtube I've done since May this year, but I've been into electronics for far to many years ;-)

  • I got one of those, but I couldn't manage to bend it :)

  • I can send you the instructions of you want them ;-)

    Cheers,

    Oceanus

  • Yess please :) That would be really really helpfull

  • Could you send those on to me? I have an SA-5 I'd like to bend.

  • could you send me the instructions please.

  • Hi, I've made them public. Look at casperelectronics dot com website under casio SA schematics.

    Cheers

    Oceanus

  • One last thing. would you sell me that keyboard?

  • This kicks ass :D I cant wait to get a crappy little keyboard like this and circuit bend it!

  • Well done. Well done everyone.

  • What did you do to it!?

  • what do you mean by a pot?

    isnt that a resistor/capacitor dial?

  • pot is short for potentiometer.. or variable resistor.

    hope that helps

  • ah thanks.

  • I've made the schematic and construction notes public for this. If anyone want's a copy, drop me an email and I will reply with the details attached.

    Cheers, Oceanus

  • Holy shit! What did you do to it? Amazing! The right handed pot reminds me of the effect i did with an LDR to my SA-1.

  • Nice work! I love my SA-5. I really ought to open it up and add some more options to it. The switch that adds a fifth to the note is really great. I haven't seen that before.
