Can't believe I never heard of this guy. To play a piece as difficult as this so well is something very few pianists - professional or otherwise - can do. Bravo indeed.
Impressive even if a little harsh and not so playful, or teasingly colorful as Granados's character might imply. This most elusive of virtuoso pieces defies even the best equipped pianists!
Exactly. But he plays with tremendous freemdom that proceeds from an authentic artisitc sensibility and understanding. Even so, his reading of Pelele here cannot match de Larrocha's far more detailed, rhythmically cogent, and contrapuntally pristine performance which lends the piece its immanent and ever so joyful character.
I very much agree with you. I heard De Larrocha 3 times live in concert, and her rendition was much more detailed rhytmically and touch of the key. I also heard Pratts twice, and what i don't like about his playing is that almost everything is very loud, and he uses the sustaining pedal to much. Indeed it is a very difficult piece but it should not sound like that
Excelente.
