I just turn back to 16 years old when this was the stuff lord the times were so great and the music was the magic, blue basement parties, sock hops, quarter parties those were the best of time . One boyfriend one girlfriend and love in the air.
this was in my gangsta days lol lol alpaca knits.mohair sweaters, blys, raw silks suites, bever hats, gators shoes at C.O.C.P. in brooklyn new york one of the hottest clups out there. with DJ. Dice and flowers
Yea brother. Blye knits with leather diamonds on the front in all colors, silk and wool custom made slacks, gators, beavers, and mohair top coats and lets not forget high boy shirts starched to the T. Sharp as a tack
Love this! remember when auto play on the stereo was stacking the 45's and waiting for the next record to drop. The good old days! Oh and on the albums when you wanted to skip to the next record. You had to get the needle just just right on the line for the start of the song.
@lovelysnowangels We also have to clean ther dust off the needle...Remember the quarters or nickel we had to put on the arm of the record player so the play would not "skip"...???
we know trust well most times if we aint going thru too damn much to tell but i really love the delphonics delfonics i dont care how u spell it there will never be another michael and there will never be another delhonics
and i said back then duh! and im sure i know quite a bit about about music and instruments hahaha Stop The Hate tris is everybodys music and we can do with it what we like but now i grow weary of you and am not amused anymore enjoy life..
@Imakebeats65 "Back then"..??? You still have instrument today and you still have musicians that play those instruments...Your problem is that since you don't have the talent , dedication or guts to learn music..you resort to coping what other people have done and try to call that nonsense music....
really... you could apply that to every style of music but to each is own.. hiphop has helped songs most people wouldnt listen to gain a wider audience.. Wether or not you think i misunderstand you or not is really your thoughts in which you are entitled.hahah you are a hater but you have grown up with hiphop for the last 30 odd years oops your bad hahahaha
instruments back then.. but we did have our parents records and from there Hip hop was born..Are they early african slaves suing the blues men/suing the rock & roll singers/suing the jazz men etc.. Everything old is new again so its okay to be passionate about your music heck we all are and im sure every one knows someone that has either sang or produced some of it but dont hate on Hip hop as we have been soo OFFICIAL for quite sometime now i could go on but its about the music right.
@Imakebeats65 You just don't get it do you...learn something about music other then srtealing from someone else;'s creativity....then get back to me...By the way , you still have instruments today...the difference is today's musical environment does not demand good music...hip-hop is proof of that...
pardon the mistakes its early in NJ LOL but really we love this music! Grew up with Them and just adapted them into hiphop.Sure folks need to clear samples and give the Original artists/producers/players/ credit but thats another issue..Every so many years musical styles change its just that Hiphop has lasted a lot longer than some people expected and as any child would grow with good parents to influence them they would of course look to emulate them..hey we didnt have access to -
@Imakebeats65 What you don't understand is that hip-hop is more of a musical "shadow" then a musucal style...Where's the songwriting , the arranging , the musicianship , the performing...??? It's makes money but it doesn't advance music..
okay fair point but would any of these songs that sre sampled get yhe international resurgance and love that they are getting now? Music was so very regional back in the day and a lot of these songs were local groups doing there thing. now we know most the Super Groups were well known ie The Delfonics /Blue Magic/Stylistics etc.. In a lot of cases these songs were played only R&B stations until they crossed over into the top 40 then you could hear an Oh girl or a ready or not on AM radio
@Imakebeats65 Actually the Delphonics had a large crossover appeal , as did must of the artists from Motown...Some R&B groups did not have crossover appeal , but if you listen to some of the "rock" performers you can hear the R&B influence...Some of these performers such as the Beatles , Rolling Stones , etc even admit that they listened to R&B and it shaped their sound....Nothing wrong with the "resurgance" of old songs but why not have the pride to create "new" songs..??
@freein2339 what does that matter as every form or style of music was or has been influenced by another!! Maybe you dont lke hip hop and thats your bag but to say that "nothing about hiphop is original" well thats just a little ignorant and well since ignorance is bliss im going to give you a pass on that... however since im sure that you have never heard every hip hop song that was ever created because in order for you to make such a blanket statement (you would have had to).
I Think what was so special about this ERA was that when you listened to the radio.. the hits were coming back to back. they didn't play the same song every two minutes, there was so much great nmusic to choose from, and the artist then were jammin'! Love This ERA
I dug this record the very first time I heard it (in real time)when I was at a party with my eye on a very special girl. They played this song a bunch of times & each time she & I danced to it,& I dug the tune more & more. The thing was, later on, I could never find this song on any of The Delfonics' albums. I heard a version of it,but it wasn't the one I remembered. But thanks to Freein2339, could flashback to a wonderful time in my youth & once again groove on this great song(scratches & all).
She became my girlfriend. Although we only went out for about a year, we remained friends for many years afterwards. Unfortunately, I've lost touch with her(no e-mails back then) otherwise, I'd forward this video to her I know would make her smile & remember the fun & thrill we had listening & dancing to this special song that became "our song.....thanks again for posting amigo.
This is such a great record, I have the record on the Moonshot label but I never found it on the web before. I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Randy Cain, he was a founding member of this great group. Long live the Delfonics!
Just came across this by total accident. The truth is, I last heard this on the Jimmy Young show around 1972 and I freely admit it! Love the Delfonics and this is their best. I missed out on this when it was issued on the Mojo label. Could anyone kindly tell me where I can buy it please? This is crackly but what a tune! Thank you so much freein2339.
I would buy it gladly but some records aren't at all what they are described on there! Now if it was on a CD that's different but I have checked and it isn't, unless someone reading this can tell me different!
Ahhh yes! Takes me back to Detroit when I was 5. My grandma had a big ass box full of 45s and I remember playing this and lovin' it. The crazy thing is I was only 7 months old when it was released. I'm 41 now and I still love it. Truly a rare classic!
yes, the delphonics,,,,,,,My jam

hip hop is original every style of music takes something from the past.

This is a Thom Bell production, he plays all of the instruments, hence the less than stellar fidelity.
( Due to the ping-pong recording technique)
