  • Okay, yea I'm new to my ap1 and am quite afraid to downshift from 5-4 at race speeds. Buttonwillow doesn't use 5th gear right?

  • BW13 does not use 5th gear on AP1, at least a mostly stock AP1 like mine...

  • Hey I just picked up a 2003. Does the ap1 come close to topping out 4th gear on the entry to the dreaded turn 9?

  • It depends on what you mean by entry. I eventually got down to a laptime of 1:35.1 at WSIR, and even then my minimum speed through T9 was ~95mph, which is ~7350RPM on 4th gear in an AP1. My maximum speed before braking for T9 was ~117mph though, which does necessitate 5th gear.
