Those were such stylish a well mannered days, I really miss quality British TV dramas (and films) of this style and standard. Randle and Hopkirk, The Persuaders, The Prisoner and New Avengers were equally excellent.

Department S was one of the best TV shows around in 1969.

Also had the best theme music.

I remember having seen this episode back in 76 in black and white, I never thought I would ever see it again, and in color, what a beautiful goddess she was, and those legs, man I was just a kid back there, no chance at all.

WOW! I'd always ascribed Rosemary Nichols as one of the dowdier female characters in cult TV land (along with Linda Thorson of course). As Peter Wyngarde's character says: 'It's an improvement'. Not dowdy then, but demure.

Rosemary Nicols is absolutely stunning looking and a brilliant actress. Department S more than deserves its cult status. Sha also uses some karate skills in season. We should make a fan club for this wonderful lady! I believe she lives in Malta now...

Sadly, I was out of the country in 1968 and never saw Department S, which - unlike The Persuaders or Randle & Hopkirk - didn't get repeated. It's only recently that I saw this episode on satellite. Watching the series in 2007 I fell in love with the super cute Rosemary Nicols. If only it really was 1968, I'd make an honest woman of her...

I had this clip on vhs tape at one point, nice to see a good quality version of it. She certainly thinks on her feet!
