A couple of weeks before I went to Uganda in March 2007, my aunt who has since passed, sent me a note with this song included. She hadn't understood why I was willing to take such a trip. In her note she said that when they sang this song at church one Sunday, it was a message to her how I must feel. I cried as I read her note and all the words to the song. It is exactly how I feel. I didn't know the melody until today. Thank you for sharing it.
At first before you started I thought 'Oh, no what's next, is this a nutter?'. You are great, you are not a nutter. I am sorry for my initial negative suspicion. Blessings to you.
First off, your voice is beautiful! A couple tips on having more breath and therefore not running out of air, since that's what you requested. 1. when you inhale expand your ribcage outward instead of upward, this keeps you from having to continually raise your shoulders, which takes air and time. 2. pressurize the air in your lungs by tightening up your abs a little bit. This will allow you to use your air much more effectively. God bless!
Thanks so much for your nice words and very helpful advice!! I have been working on not moving my shoulders up, but I haven't been thinking about moving my ribcage out. I think that will help enormously. And I'll work on the abs too. Again, thanks for the advice.
You have one of the purest and sweetest voices that I have ever heard. If you sang that in my church, I would be moved to tears. This is my favorite hymn and you do it such justice. Thanks for posting it.
w0w...that was brilliant! was thta you playing the piano? and you don't need singing lessons your good enough now. p.s my mum wasnt pleased with any of the other versions but she liked yours the best! and that is a blessing ! xD
thanks so much for the encouragement :) btw, that was not me on piano, it was "pierce the organist" - my video is a response to his piano playing, you can click the link above and get to his song.

very nice. too much, "ummm" and other talking for the first 25 seconds
just belt it out and think about Our Lord when you sing instead of a winded introdution.
singing as nice as you do, the song was too short

You sing very nicely
And besides abdominal breathing -- the best thing you can do is stand up when you're singing!
