the E61 has pre-infusion already per the design, but I usually play with pulling up the lever to extend it a bit. Sometimes pulling it up slowly over a couple of seconds.
what an amazing vid. i couldnt tell what machine it was. sorry if its stated elsewhere or some one has already asked, but i cant find the answer. At first I thought it was a Giotto. Please let me know! thanks.
oh nice. I like your grinder too, its quiet.....also when your dosing, its really clean on the inside. It gets all the grinds! the mini mazzer doesnt and I have to use a brush...
I like the way you dose, collapse and tamp. good job.
Thanks! I try my best... I had to go through a lot of bad shots before I got to these. Regarding the grinder, I did the electric tape mod on the doser veins. I think I added it only to two veins and it's held up for over a year now. Still sweeps clean. The tamper is a RB *stubby version* The grinder is a WEGA Max, which is a rebadged Compak grinder. But I think the newer Compaks are nicer. But for what I paid, it was a pretty good deal.
NICE! thats gona be me in two years. once i get a job and can pay for all that. i notice that extra atention to temp. right at 203 for black cat? i here some coffees are best at 198 or so. maybe lighter roasts? origin and blend has something to do with it im geussing.
I think there is a temperature difference between where the temperature probe sits and the actual brew head... but mostly, it's dialing in what tastes right and then using the temperature probe as a future reference.
Thanks! Yeah, it's a bit crazy now that I look at my setup. But trust me, there are people who are into more than I am. I only have what I have because my wife let's me have it... anything more and she would have to put her foot down. haha
Also your lucky to have this setup, i wish i did, what a great grinder and machine

It's a Maver Junior. It's basically an Isomac on the inside (boiler, etc.)

Also, I have read that, with a semi-automatic, like yours, you have to backflush it. Do you have to backflush an automatic?

Is that a "naked" portafilter?
maryistheawesomest12 2 years ago
Why yes it is... :)

Did you drill a hole to put the thermometer in?
luongdung 2 years ago
No drilling required. It's Eric's Thermomter solution... which can be googled. It basically goes where an M6 screw used to be....
